Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.
SIL 3105
Altec has learned that the affected units may have incorrect fittings installed at the lower control station manifold block. Incorrect fittings can allow air into the hydraulic system. The presence of air in the hydraulic system will cause abnormal operation, noise, and damage to the pump.
SIL 804
Altec has learned that certain AH125 aerials built between 2018 to 2020 have bolted joints on the upper boom hose carrier mountings which can fail and allow the hose carrier to come loose within the boom. This can cause damage to the hose carrier and result in unplanned downtime. Altec requires that the upper boom hose carrier mountings on each unit be inspected. The inspection must be completed no later than the next periodic maintenance interval or 30 days from the receipt of this SIL, whichever comes first.
Complaint counts are reports filed with NHTSA, not failure rates. A common model collects more of them than a rare one that breaks more often.
