Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

Altec Industries, Inc. has been notified of a condition affecting certain International HV, HX, eMV, CV, LT, RH, LoneStar, and MV Series trucks equipped with Altec equipment. Outdated Body Control Module (BCM) software may generate erroneous fault codes after the vehicle has been inactive for two to three days.

Altec has received notification from Parker Chelsea, the manufacturer, of an issue with some of their 281 and 890 Series PTOs. An unintended restriction in lubrication flow may produce elevated back pressure in cold-start scenarios, leading to partial engagement of the clutch. Once the vehicle reaches normal operating temperature, the clutch drag will abate. In extreme cases, repeated cold starts may result in clutch disk damage and failure to engage when activated.

Altec Industries, Inc. has received notification from Daimler Truck North America LLC (DTNA) that certain 2020-2026 Freightliner 108SD, 114SD, 122SD and Business Class M2 and Western Star 4700, 47X, 48X RHD and 49x vehicles equipped with an Altec aerial device or equipment could have fasteners in the axle clamp group that might not have been properly tightened and can loosen and fail. As a result, the axle could shift, leading to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Altec Industries, Inc. has received notification from Daimler Truck North America LLC (DTNA) that the tie rod on the front axle may not have been installed properly, which can result in tie rod separation without warning and a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash in certain 2024 - 2026 Freightliner Custom Chassis that are equipped with Altec equipment.

Altec Industries, Inc. has been notified by International of a safety defect in some chassis with specific Bendix Antilock Brake Systems (ABS) fitted with Altec equipment.

Altec has learned that hydraulic hoses on certain DM-E and DH derricks, built between 2021 and 2025, can come into contact with the cord reel, causing the reel to stick. This can cause the pole guide to become inoperable.

Altec Industries, Inc. has received notification from International Motors, LLC that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2026 International® MV™ Series trucks built 3/3/2025 through 6/11/2025 with 25" Battery Boxes and/or specific feature codes. This condition relates to the operation or customer satisfaction of the unit when equipped with an Altec aerial device or equipment.

Altec Industries, Inc. has received notification from Daimler Truck North America LLC (DTNA) that a condition related to operation or customer satisfaction could be present on certain specific 2025-2026 model year vehicles, including: Freightliner 108SD, 114SD, M2, eM2, Cascadia, eCascadia; Western Star 47X, 48X, 49X, 57X vehicles manufactured from December 4, 2024, to February 5, 2025, when equipped with an Altec aerial device or equipment.

Altec Industries, Inc. has received notification from International Motors, LLC, that a condition exists relating to motor vehicle safety in certain 2025 and 2026 eMVTM Series trucks built 11/13/2024 through 2/3/2025; 2025 and 2026 HVTM Series trucks built 11/11/2024 through 4/9/2025; 2025 and 2026 RHTM Series trucks built 11/11/2024 through 3/28/2025; 2025 and 2026 HX®, LT®, and MVTM Series trucks built 11/11/2024 through 4/8/2025 equipped with Altec equipment.
SIL-3209
Altec has learned that the velocity fuse, part of the HOP plumbing on the lower boom lift cylinder, may close and fail to open due to air in the circuit during normal operation on certain D3000H, DT65H, and DT85H series derricks built from July 2022 to May 2025. This can prevent the hydraulic overload protection system from operating properly to prevent a structural overload of the boom.

Altec has learned that the king pin towing capacity placard might not be installed on certain DL derricks built from August 2005 to October 2024. This could lead to unintentional overloading which could result in cracks or deformations to the king pin assembly. Altec has had no reports of this issue occuring. This area should be inspected regularly as outlined in the Welds and Fasteners subsections in Section 4 of the unit’s Maintenance and Parts Manual.
PUN-3210
Altec has developed additional features and functionality for JEMS Connect. Features include Vehicle Status Indicators and Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), both are accessed from Connect.
Complaint counts are reports filed with NHTSA, not failure rates. A common model collects more of them than a rare one that breaks more often.
