Technical background: We have observed instances where the caps have been difficult to remove once fitted, the issue is caused by corrosion. The valve stem itself is made from aluminium and the accessory valve caps are chromium plated brass, it is possible under certain environmental conditions, particularly winter road salt, for corrosion to take place between these dissimilar metals. Measure: The solution is to apply a thin smear of silicon-based grease, such as Dow Corning high vacuum grease, to the external threads of the valve stem prior to fitting the accessory valve cap. The noise cannot be heard from inside the cabin or outside of the vehicle in normal circumstances. Technical background: A buzzing noise can be generated by the oil pump when the engine is running at idle. Measure: Test a comparable vehicle with the same Engine derivative. If the same noise is apparent on the comparable vehicle and no oil pressure warnings or relevant DTCs are stored then the noise can be considered a characteristic of the vehicle and no further action should be taken.

HVAC Potential spurious Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Customer statement / workshop findings: Customer will not be aware of this code / Workshop may discover this code whilst running a Diagnostic Trouble Code log as part of other investigations on the car Technical background: At low ambient temperatures a spurious fault code may be logged by the HVAC control module in reference to the air quality sensor. The code is stored without being accompanied by any functional failure in the system Measure: The following may be seen during routine interrogation of vehicle systems do not take any investigative action in response to the following fault code unless there is an actual fault evident in the system or a fault in the system has been reported by the owner.
