A faulty electric auxiliary heater may have been installed in the certain vehicles. This could result in thefailure of the electric auxiliary heater, utilized for the vehicle interior.
Vehicle report
Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

A “whistling” noise is heard from the centerconsole/instrument panel when using theheating and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Heard with the blower motor set tospeed 2 or above Noise goes away on high blower speed Noise is loudest with the vents on theback of the center console in the closedposition Noise is heard the most near thecharging tray (where center consolemeets instrument panel)

Charging sessions cannot be started or they are interrupted while using a Level 2 AC high-power charging station, or with a Level 3 DC charging station. Charging may start normally but can interrupt after some time. Level 2 (240 V) Flex Charger and Wall box may also be affected. The red or white LED is displayed on the high-voltage charging socket; however, no associated fault codes are stored.

The customer states there is a Drivetrain Malfunction message displayed in the instrument cluster. In addition, the following fault memory entries are saved in the CCU (Combined Charging Unit) 0317F2 - High-voltage system, insulation fault detected: when switch contactors are closed. 0317F1 - High-voltage system, insulation resistance below warning threshold: when switch contactors are closed. The fault memory entries (isolation faults) can occur both individually and in combination and must be traced back to the eDrive motor based on the ISTA test procedure. If ISTA test procedure lists possible cause of fault as; A metal chip is found behind the brush module (between the brush module and the end shield of the electrical machine). Repair required. Refer to service solution no. 20000794435083 in Aftersales Information Research (AIR). Follow information in the Procedure section below.

Quality checks have determined that the coolant changeover valve may develop a coolant leak undervery low outside temperatures (significantly lower than 32º F (0 C)).
B611824
A manufacturing defect in high-voltage cells of the high-voltage battery can result in electrolyte leakage which might result in a conductive connection with surrounding components. Depending on the contact resistance, a yellow or red Check Control message will then be displayed; it is permitted for you to continue driving, but this will result in a charging interruption during charging.

The Combined Charging Unit (CCU) may not have been produced according to BMW specifications. This can lead to an internal coolant leak which can result in a failure of the Combined Charging Unit.Possible faults may include- HV charging interruption No high-voltage readiness when starting up The high-voltage system switching off while driving, causing the vehicle to coast slowly to a stop

This Informational Bulletin is intended as a guided work-through process to address customer charging complaints. The step-by-step guide will help walk you through the âÂÂbasicâ procedure to test the charger/infrastructure when the vehicle does not charge, either at a: Home charger AC Level 1/Level 2 - Flexible Fast Charger/hard wired Wallbox, or a Public AC Level 2, or DC Level 3 - Fast Charging Station Note: All PHEV and BEV vehicles may be affected.

This Informational Bulletin is intended as a guided work through process to address BEV/PHEV charging issues. The step-by-step guide will help walk you through the correct âÃÂÃÂbasicâÃÂàsteps that should be followed when addressing and diagnosing battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) charging issues.

The electrical system of BMW vehicles has been subject to an ongoing development process over the last few years. This has led to increased demands being placed on the battery. This document covers important information for the dealer on how to handle âÂÂdischarged batteryâ complaints.

The purpose of this Service Bulletin (SIB) is informational regarding DC (direct current) charging complaints on Gen 5 Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). It serves as a supporting argument and is intended to help distinguish between a standard designed function or component operation from an actual system fault in a DC charging customer complaint (i.e., âÂÂDC Not charging or âÂÂDC charging too slowâÂÂ. Helpful âÂÂTips and Tricksâ have been included on each topic within the document that can be used as reference to aid in the diagnosis or in understanding the system. The situation involves several possible causes: 1. Limitation of charging power by the charging station or charging app configuration. 2. Decreasing charging power at a very high state of charge (SoC). 3. Too frequent DC charging attempts within a short period of time. 4. The high-voltage battery is not at the ideal temperature. 5. Ageing of the high-voltage battery.
Complaint counts are reports filed with NHTSA, not failure rates. A common model collects more of them than a rare one that breaks more often.
