CCM DISPLAYED "INCREASED BATTERY DRAIN" CAUSED BY CONTROLLER: A yellow CCM (Check Control Message) ID 415 is displayed- "Increased battery drain! // Battery. Electrostatic discharge at standstill / start engine. Energy management" The results of the Energy Diagnosis test plan identifies the Controller as the root cause of the CCM. The Controller delays the vehicle going to sleep by up to 6 minutes. In some cases this will cause the CCM 415 to be displayed when starting the vehicle. Replacing the Controller in this case will not correct this situation.

The INITIAL NAV enabling code no longer needs to be pre-ordered through the Parts department! When the vehicle is connected to the diagnostic system ISTA to perform PDI/QC1 the step to activate the navigation system (part of Delete Transport Mode) will automatically request the INITIAL NAV enabling code (VIN-specific) without pre-ordering the enabling code. This enabling code will be automatically delivered through ISTA and it then activates the navigation system.

SAFETY BELT WARNING GONG SOUNDS AFTER UNBUCKLING WHILE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. After a vehicle has been programmed to an I-level greater than 19-11-5xx and lower than I-level 20-03-530; the safety belt (aka seat belt) acoustic warning sounds when in Park (engine running) and the safety belt is unbuckled. The chime/gong lasts for up to 1 minute 40 seconds. The customer only expects the acoustic warning when the vehicle is moving and the safety belt is not buckled. The acoustic warning can occur when the seat is occupied and the safety belt buckle is opened on the driver's or passenger's side. Software in the ACSM4 Control Unit.

INFORMATION Inform the customer that the introduction of these expanded frequencies by the wireless mobile providers may be influencing reception quality. BMW is currently working with the wireless mobile providers in order to improve the quality of reception and help alleviate the issues that are caused by the wireless mobile expanded frequencies. Once we have more information about this situation this service information bulletin will be updated. Currently Satellite Radio is provided by SiriusXM for BMW customers via geosynchronous (GEO) satellites located roughly above the equator. This means that the satellite signal to some parts of the United States can come in at an angle as low as 32 degrees to the horizon. Due to this angle, buildings, hills, trees, highway sound blocking walls or other obstacles might block the satellite signal coming from reaching the vehicle receiver antenna and might cause audio cut outs, unless the wireless provider has installed terrestrial repeaters. Reception quality decreases the further north you travel, as the angle of the incoming signal gets smaller. Also adverse weather conditions might affect reception. At this time, in the event of a customer complaint or inquiry on interference noise: Do not replace any parts Do not program or carry out other work on the vehicle Explain to customer about the new Wireless Communications Service (WCS) signals When investigating Satellite Radio cutouts or a temporary loss of reception: Please compare to a similarly equipped vehicle. Keep in mind the roofline of the vehicle, size of the antenna (sharkfin) and location of the antenna on the vehicle will all affect the strength of the reception. DSC "WHEEL SPEED SENSOR" FAULT CODES AND MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP- DIAGNOSTIC. 1. DSC's fault codes stored from two different wheel speed sensors (both front or both rear): 4809B0 - wheel speed sensor - front left - drive off recognition faulty and 4809CD - wheel speed sensor - front right - drive off recognition faultyor 4809B9 - wheel speed sensor - rear left - drive off recognition faulty and 480686 - wheel speed sensor - rear right - drive off recognition faulty. 2. Next ignition ON (after above codes stored). a) DME fault can occur:1F054D - drive, safety function: Drive power output reduced, DSC signals implausible and b) Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may light up. Faulty drive off recognition due to: a towing operation with a raised axle operation of the vehicle on the vehicle hoist operation of the vehicle on the roller test stand DSC diagnosis recognizes implausible wheel speeds, so no control is possible. DME fault is entered on safety grounds since the DSC fault still exists after a terminal change and may only be removed while driving.

This is a normal brake pad wear characteristic that is inherent to the design of this vehicle. Please be reminded that it is a violation of Federal law for you to sell, lease or deliver any vehicle covered by this notification until the delivery stop repair has been performed.
