Vehicle report
Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

The electrical system of BMW vehicles has been subject to an ongoing development process over the last few years. This has led to increased demands being placed on the battery. This document covers important information for the dealer on how to handle âÂÂdischarged batteryâ complaints.
MC340223
Front and rear wheel speed sensor faults (0x3A1800 and 0x3A1801) appear after the bike is being revvedover 5000 RPM while still on the side stand, sometimes in conjunction with the side stand fault 0X3A1331. When the engine is revved up while on the side stand, vibrations are sent through the entire motorcycle. This vibration intensity varies from bike to bike. This vibration can cause particular movement between the wheel speed sensor and the sensor ringsdepending on the position of the sensor to the ring. The movement is picked up as rotation speed and iscalled ÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂghost speedÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ. This ÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂghost speedÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂàfollows the increase in RPMÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂs. 5000 RPM = approx. 12 MPH 10000 RPM = approx. 31 MPH
SIB-111421
CHECK ROCKER ARMS AND REPLACE WHERE NEEDED.
MC111421
Due to a process deviation during production, the surface coating of the rocker arms may wear prematurely.
MC610821
When diagnosing fault codes (0x3A13D7, 0x3A13D9), technicians erroneously condemn the electronic throttle grip, which analyses show is rarely the culprit.
MC340320
During assembly, an additional mounting bolt was installed on the ABS pressure modulator instead of a plastic rivet.
MC610220
The engine wiring harness may chafe on the honeycomb structure of the frame. In case of damage to the wiring harness, the wake-up line of the instrument cluster will be damaged.
MC330421
Depending on the chassis and suspension adjustment, as well as vehicle load, the drive chain may make contact with the swing arm under certain conditions.
MC110821
Warning light and fault message in the TFT with faults stored for the rear oxygen sensor (after the catalytic converter). The failure usually occurs shortly after the vehicle handover or the running-in check
MC610621
Warning light in the instrument cluster for DCC failure in motorcycles equipped with DCC
MC63022267
Vibrations on the handlebars in an engine range from 2000 to 4000 rpm may be perceived as uncomfortable by some customers.
MC64351344
Lurching at partial load range and Idle speed is unstable
MC110220
On the S 1000 models, the seal for the coolant circuit of the oil/coolant pump was manufactured from an incorrect material. This could lead to a minor leakage of coolant into the oil circuit. The oil/coolant pump must be replaced.
MC110120
BMW Motorrad has ascertained that the engine installed in the affected vehicles may have a burr present in the guide bore for the oil supply of the timing chain. The burr can dislodge over time due to vibrations and oil pressure fluctuations (incl. temperature influences). This can cause a narrowing or restriction of an oil duct or oil spray nozzle. A lack of lubrication (e.g. the timing chain) or insufficient cooling (e.g. the piston) can be the result.
MC64011504
Ticking noises from the cylinder hood.
MC54380454
Rattling/chattering engine noise from the timing chain.
MC64171614
Oil leaking at the clutch release lever sealing ring in the left housing
MC3200115
When the brake system is filled with fluid for the first time in the assembly plant, a float is installed in the fluid reservoir of the handbrake fitting (see Figures 1 and 2). This float is required only for the initial, vacuum-assisted filling of the system. As long as the float remains in the reservoir it is subsequently not possible to obtain a clear reading of the brake-fluid level. In order to make it easier for the fluid level to be read correctly, the float has to be removed.

After activation of the alarm system, the turn indicators remain on for 1 minute with integration levels higher than k001-15-03-510.
MC62177457
There is a notch visible in the lower part of the right grab handle. The fault/defect is due to a tooling error.
MC62814078
It has been reported that the fuel hose comes loose at fuel distributor/pressure sensor. Because of thios, there is fuel leak that occurs when switching on the ignition.
MC2300315-024
BMW Motorrad has ascertained that in some cases the shift assistant was unable to function correctly. This cause is incorrect vehicle-specific programming of the shift assistant by the supplier.
MC4600115-019
During an interim period, some vehicles ordered with a luggage carrier were being shipped with grab handles in its place. This was done in order to ensure that all luggage carriers meet the quality standards of BMW Motorrad and to avoid a delay in vehicle delivery. A printed advisory to this effect accompanies those bikes.
MC6152772
Grab handles have replaced luggage racks despite despite order requiring luggage rack.
Complaint counts are reports filed with NHTSA, not failure rates. A common model collects more of them than a rare one that breaks more often.
