Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

Due to an implementation error in various OBD diagnostics in the vehicle's control units, in very rare cases itmay happen that stored fault memory codes (DTCs) and the MIL (warning light) are not automaticallydeleted even though the underlying malfunction has already been rectified. This does not comply with the statutory OBD specifications.

After replacing the Multifunctional Display (MFD), the Central Information Display (CID) is black. The backlight of the CID is illuminated, and touch function does register an audible sound.
B610926
An error in the Battery Management Electronics (SME) can lead to an interruption in communication, which can lead to the high-voltage system being turned off. The error is indicated by a Check Control message, and it is generally possible to continue driving until the vehicle is parked.

Several complaints are possible: Vehicle does not start Gear cannot be engaged Various Check Control Messages Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on Several Check Control messages are possible: “It is possible to continue driving. High-voltage system.” “You can continue driving. Drivetrain.” “Restart not possible. Drivetrain fault.” “Call Roadside Assistance. Drivetrain failure.” “Information: Total error of vehicle.” The following fault memory entries are stored in the CCU: D796D9 - Message (- 0x91) not up-to-date, receiver CCU, transmitter EME D796DC - No message (- 0x91), receiver CCU, transmitter EME D796D8 - No message (- 0x91), receiver CCU, transmitter EME Other fault codes below may be stored in the EGS BA09B8 – Inverter, Voltage Sensor, 5V HV AUX: Out of range or open connection detected BA0A45 – ECU internal: Internal error of the synchronous serial data bus. Additional fault memory entries are possible. Similar fault memory entries indicating a missing EMEmessage (Traction E-Machine Electronic) can also be stored in other control units.

The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is triggered by the erroneous fault code 031BFC- AC charging, charging electronics 2, internal fault: No internal capacitor discharge stored in the CCU. However, AC charging is operating as designed without a charging concern or issue. Affected PHEV vehicles have the CCU-03 (7.4 kW / 11 kW) with I-levels from …24-07-500 to …25-11-5xx.
B612325
The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is triggered and 0318E2 AC charging, charging electronics 1,component protection: Overload current on AC side fault may be stored during AC charging Level 1(120 VAC). Note: Despite the fault memory entry (and the malfunction indicator lamp), the AC charging process willcontinue operating as designed and there is no related drivability complaint. Affected PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) vehicles with CCU-03 (7.4 kW combined charging unit).
B612225
Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is triggered by the erroneous fault code(s) BA0023 - Control unit: internalfault (software group fault) In addition, the BA0008 - CCU, internal coolant temperature sensor:Signal implausible faults may be stored in the CCU memory. However, AC charging is still operating as designed, without any related drivability complaints. Affected PHEV vehicles have the CCU-03 (7.4 kW / 11 kW) with I-levels from 24-07-500 to 25-11-5xx.

When performing a vehicle test, diagnostic trouble code “ 8013FE Software run time error” is found in theIHKA module. If this fault is set for two consecutive life cycles, it will turn on the check engine light on vehicles with an I-level lower than 24-11-570. This fault memory entry does not cause an impairment of functionality of the automatic air conditioningsystem.
B652825
The vehicle may experience various operational issues with the Multifunction Display such as: Intermittent black screen Permanent black screen Intermittent head unit functions not displayed (i.e., Navigation screen only is black)
B652725
The vehicle may experience various operational issues with the infotainment system such as: Resets of the head unit Delayed start-up of the head unit (longer than 30 seconds) Failed start-up of the head unit Sporadic or permanent problems with navigation Sporadic or permanent Bluetooth connection problems Sporadic or permanent audio problems Sporadic or permanent speech / IPA (international phonetic alphabet) problems Missing displays, radio stations, camera images or applications

RSU availability. Due to a software error in the BCP, the Calibration Identification Number (CAL ID) and the Calibration Verification Number (CVN) of the vehicle are not stored correctly. They are generated with eachprogramming session and are used to identify official BMW software.
B652525
After the software update to I-level version …25-07-530, the Alexa app may disappear from the App Menu in the head unit (HU-H5).
B340825
Starting from I-level …24-07-500, it is possible that the Automatic Hold function is not automatically storedfor the next journey. The function must be activated again by the driver at the beginning of every trip. After asoftware update to 25-03-500 and higher, this occurs more frequently.

Central Information Display (CID) in the vehicle is black or only displays “BMW”. The head unit (HU-H5) is not responding in ISTA. Additionally, the Receiver Audio Module (RAM), Instrument Cluster (KOMBI) and Telematic Module 4 (TCB4) may not be responding in ISTA.
Complaint counts are reports filed with NHTSA, not failure rates. A common model collects more of them than a rare one that breaks more often.
