Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

As per Mercedes Interim Recall Notice 21V042, one or more of the rear-wheel speed sensors may experience an electrical failure, which potentially could lead to a disablement of the Electronic Stability Control control unit functions. If ESP control unit functions are disabled, vehicle driving stability may be impacted under certain driving conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.

In our continuing efforts to assure the proper performance of Mercedes-Benz products and to enhance the satisfaction of our customers, MB USA is extending the warranty on the wheel speed sensors ("WSS") for the affected vehicles to a total of 10 years/ no mileage limitations from the vehicle's original New Vehicle Limited Warranty start date. This addendum to the WSS coverage applies to the vehicle regardless of ownership.

Mercedes-Benz USA is extending the warranty of the exhaust gas recirculation (âÂÂEGRâÂÂ) valve for the affected vehicles to a total of 11 years / 120,000 miles from the vehicleâÂÂs original New Vehicle Limited Warranty start date. This addendum to the EGR valve coverage applies to the vehicle regardless of ownership.
Complaint counts are reports filed with NHTSA, not failure rates. A common model collects more of them than a rare one that breaks more often.
