For Ford and Lincoln vehicles that require positive or negative battery terminal replacement, it is not necessary to replace the complete battery cable harness (14300 and 14301) for this concern. Positive battery cable clamp BT4Z-14450-AA and negative battery cable clamp BT4Z-14450-BA are available for this type of repair. Do not cut or shorten the battery cable, instead carefully remove the affected battery cable clamp and clean the cable end as necessary to preserve wire length. Some rework may be necessary for some vehicle environments. Bend the new positive battery cable clamp as needed and crimp it to the existing battery cable. Make sure to use heat shrink tubing over the battery cable to battery cable clamp connection. Obtain the heat shrink tube locally.

SOME 2013-2017 C-MAX/FUSION ENERGI AND 2017 C-MAX/FUSION/MKZ HYBRID VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT AN ILLUMINATED MIL WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P04B5. THIS MAY BE DUE TO INADVERTENT ACTUATION OF THE FUEL DOOR RELEASE BUTTON BY THE CUSTOMER WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE. IF THE FUEL FILLER DOOR IS NOT FULLY CLOSED AFTER A REFUELING EVENT, OR THE FUEL FILLER DOOR IS OPEN FROM ERRONEOUSLY PRESSING THE FUEL DOOR RELEASE BUTTON, A MESSAGE DISPLAYS DURING THE THIRD DRIVE CYCLE TO INDICATE THE FUEL FILLER DOOR IS NOT CLOSED AND THE DTC SETS. BEFORE PERFORMING WORKSHOP MANUAL DIAGNOSTICS, CONSULT THE CUSTOMER ABOUT THE POTENTIAL FOR ACCIDENTAL FUEL DOOR ACTUATION AND EXPLAIN THE NEED TO FULLY LATCH THE FUEL DOOR AFTER EVERY REFUELING EVENT.

THE EV RANGE AFTER FULLY CHARGING A 2012-2016 FOCUS ELECTRIC, 2013-2016 C-MAX/FUSION ENERGI MAY VARY AFTER EACH CHARGING EVENT. THE WINDOW STICKER INDICATES 0-19 MILE RANGE FOR 2013-2016 CMAX/FUSION ENERGI. VARIATION OF EV RANGE MAY NOT INDICATE A BATTERY OR CHARGING CONCERN. EV RANGE IS SIMILAR TO THE DTE DISPLAY ON GASOLINE VEHICLES, EV RANGE WILL VARY WITH DRIVING/OPERATING CONDITIONS. CONDITIONS INCLUDE: EXTREME OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES, TERRAIN, DRIVING STYLE, CITY OR HIGHWAY DRIVING, TIRE PRESSURE, AND USE OF ACCESSORIES. IF THE CUSTOMER REPLACES THE LOW ROLL RESISTANCE TIRES WITH A MORE AGGRESSIVE TREAD THE RANGE WILL SUFFER. USING THE CABIN HEATER AND A/C, WHICH ARE ELECTRIC, WILL ALSO DECREASE EV RANGE. TO TEMPORARILY REMOVE THE IMPACT OF DRIVING/CLIMATE HISTORY, RESET THE LIFETIME SUMMARY OR DRIVING HISTORY BY USING THE SETTINGS MENU ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, UNDER DISPLAY

Some vehicles may have a concern where the safety belt retractor webbing does not extract from the stowed position or exhibits excessive pressure on the occupant during use. This may be due to a normal condition which happens when the seatbelt retracts at a high rate of speed. The Workshop Manual, Section 501-20A General Procedures has been updated with a locked seatbelt retractor releasing procedure.

The Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual has been revised for diagnosing electronic throttle bodies (ETBs). The ETC_ACT and ETC_DSD PIDs should not used to diagnose possible ETB concerns. The IDS has a limited refresh rate when reading these PIDs and cannot display quickly enough to validate a concern. The PCM automatically monitors these inputs more accurately and will set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) when appropriate. Using these PIDs for diagnostics will lead to inaccurate results and improper ETB replacements. If a concern is intermittent and no DTCs are present, refer to historical DTCs and the PC/ED, Section 3 No DTCs Present Index chart for further information.
