Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions
During service and repair requiring removal and replacement of a crankshaft bolt and/or crankshaft damper, achieving proper torque of the crankshaft pulley bolt is critical. Incorrect torque may allow the bolt to loosen resulting in the timing gear breaking and engine damage. Replacement of the bolt is critical to the repair and accurately following the installation procedure in the Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 303-01 is extremely important. The bolt torque procedure can be found in the crankshaft front seal removal and installation procedure or in the engine assembly procedure.

For 2000-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, swapping a module from a vehicle for diagnosis purposes is likely to cause errors and is not recommended. It is also not recommended to order a replacement module using a vehicle identification number (VIN) from a different vehicle. Most modules on these affected vehicles are VIN/vehicle specific and hardware variations between modules do exist. Swapping a module from a vehicle or ordering a module using a different vehicle/VIN can cause ineffective repairs and additional vehicle down time. Make sure all appropriate Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures are followed when diagnosing the condition prior to all module replacements and only order modules using the correct VIN.

Some 2017-2022 Ford/Lincoln customers may experience a notification in the FordPassÃÂÃÂÃÂî/LincolnWayÃÂÃÂÃÂî app indicating Vehicle Has Entered Deep Sleep Mode. This occurs when the vehicle has not been started for 14 consecutive days, battery voltage is at/below 9.5 volts or the body control module (BCM) 12 volt battery state of charge (SOC) drops below 50%. A warning may also set if the telematic control unit (TCU) has received an over the air update. The TCU powers down all communication when in this mode and app features are disabled. Manually start the vehicle to wake if from mode. More information is located in the app under: Account > Help > search 'Deep Sleep' in the entry box. If the condition remains, check the BCM 12v SOC. If the SOC does not change after charging the battery or after BMS reset is performed, continue with normal battery and/or BMS sensor diagnostics.

Some 2017-2021 Ford GT vehicles built on or before 22-Sep-2021 may need to have a new battery installed for service. A new design service battery has been released and requires a different battery tray and a different local interconnect network (LIN) connector. This is due to the new battery being smaller and will not properly secure in the original battery tray. The LIN connector socket in the new battery is keyed differently and the original LIN connector will not plug in. The LIN connector will need to be de-pinned, so the new connector shell can be installed. When installing new battery part number: MG7Z-10655-A(USA/MEX), MG7Z-10655-B(CAN), MG7Z-10655-C(GCC) MG7Z-10655-D(EU), the following battery tray and LIN connector must be used: battery tray MG7Z-10732-A, LIN connector shell MG7Z-9A624-A. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 414-01 for battery tray replacement.

Some 2017-2022 Ford GT vehicles may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P166B present in the gear shift module (GSM) after an on-demand self test is performed. This is likely due to the driver door not being fully closed and locked during the on-demand self-test. A false P166B DTC can set if the driver door is not fully closed or if it is unlocked during the self-test. If P166B is still present with the driver door fully closed and locked during the on-demand self-test, continue with normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-05.

Some 2017-2022 Ford GT vehicles may exhibit a runs rough or hard start with or without an illuminated MIL with DTC P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306 and/or P0316. Prior to performing any diagnostics, determine if the vehicle operating conditions may have resulted in multiple cold engine start-ups without allowing the engine to reach normal operating temperature and being driven. If that operating condition is determined, inspect the spark plugs per Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 and repair as directed. If no concern with spark plugs are found, proceed with normal diagnostics per the Powertrain Controls/Emission Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual. Upon returning the vehicle, refer the customer to the owners guide regarding proper driving cycles.

When installing new battery part number MG7Z-10655-*, the following battery tray and LIN connector must be used: battery tray MG7Z-10732-A, LIN connector shell MG7Z-9A624-A. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 414-01 for battery tray replacement.

Some 2017-2020 Ford GT vehicles built on or before 10-Sep-2020 may exhibit a rattle/buzzing noise from the left rear of the vehicle during hot idle. This may be due to the transmission control module (TCM) calibration. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to reprogram the TCM.
