Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

2011 – Current model year Hino Conventional and 2013 – 2020 model year Hino COE trucks equipped with reprogrammable control modules supported by the Hino Repro Server When reprograming a control module that is supported by the Hino Reprogramming server such as an Engine, Vehicle or Doser control module (ECU, VCS, DCU), the error below may be seen in DX3 when attempting to reprogram. This is typically the result of the VIN not being registered with the Hino Repro Server. This will require creation of an INF file via the DX3 and registering the file on the Hino Repro Server.

A brake pad mechanical wear indicator is now available as a service part. During the periodic brake pad inspection or when servicing the front or rear brakes, if the outer brake pads are not equipped with a mechanical wear indicator, mechanical wear indicator installation is recommended at the time of inspection or service. In certain conditions, the fuel pressure applied to the FCV (Fuel Cut Valve) during operation exceeds the valve opening force limit, this is because the design of the FCV may not have enough allowance for the pressure and timing of the fuel generated in the valve, causing the valve not to be opened temporarily.

167-E2010-6

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Residual DEF inside the pump may freeze and crack the pump housing. In some case DEF may leak on the pump connector and cause a circuit failure. This failure will cause the MIL to illuminate.

167-E2010-3

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

May cause the MIL to illuminate due to the following: DEF quality misdetection, internal temp sensor failure, operating voltage misdetection, or failure of the internal power supply circuit capacitor.

167-R2010-1

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

The seal structure of the dosing valve of the DEF Injector may be inadequate. With an inadequate seal, water or DEF may enter inside the coil of dosing valve from the seal, causing the DEF Injector to be inoperative. For vehicles built before the improved part was introduced into production, the DEF injector will be replaced with an improved one.

167-E1907-01

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Oil leak from the input rod: During the machining process of the input rod cylinder, a sharp protrusion was produced. This sharp protrusion scratched the packing seal, resulting in an oil leak. Brake pedal kickback: In some cases, the brake pedal may be depressed beyond the operational limit which will create scars on the end of the plunger inside the booster. The scars cause the oil passage to narrow, resulting in unbalanced pressure. The unbalanced pressure causes a kickback sensation to occur. The kickback sensation does not affect the braking function but could lead to the customer contacting the dealer about a possible brake malfunction.

When diagnosing a concern with the SCR system, the technician may notice crystallized DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) on the tip of the DEF injector. Crystallized DEF on the tip of the injector is a normal occurrence and does not indicate that the injector nozzle is clogged. The crystallization will dissolve when the injector is activated. Do not replace the DEF injector for the crystallization alone. Please follow Workshop Manual diagnostics to diagnose the specific condition or DTC on the vehicle.

TT-14-032

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

During diagnosis of the exhaust aftertreatment system, the technician may find that the combustion chamber igniter plugs are covered in soot or appear to be excessively worn. If the igniters are dirty or have some wear, this alone does not justify replacement. No service of the igniters is recommended unless an issue with the spark between them is confirmed during a spark test. If, during the spark test the arc between the igniters does not function properly, it is recommended to first clean the igniters, and then check the air gap using the following procedure prior to replacement of the igniters.
