2011 – Current model year Hino Conventional and 2013 – 2020 model year Hino COE trucks equipped with reprogrammable control modules supported by the Hino Repro Server When reprograming a control module that is supported by the Hino Reprogramming server such as an Engine, Vehicle or Doser control module (ECU, VCS, DCU), the error below may be seen in DX3 when attempting to reprogram. This is typically the result of the VIN not being registered with the Hino Repro Server. This will require creation of an INF file via the DX3 and registering the file on the Hino Repro Server.

STOP SALE NOTICE Hino Trucks has received approval to perform, and must now execute, an emissions recall under the terms of a Consent Decree with the Federal Government and the State of California. In order to ensure compliance with that agreement and timely completion of the recall, Hino dealers shall not sell, resell, re-lease, import or export any vehicle model identified above, unless it has received the applicable Emissions Modification (recall). This requirement applies from the date of this notice until which time the recall is completed for an eligible vehicle. 2011MY-2021MY CONVENTIONAL EXTERIOR MIRROR STAY. The subject vehicle may experience an exterior mirror stay that is loose or drifts slightly from its position. An enhanced mirror stay, mirror stay mount, related fasteners and revised torque specifications have been released to correct this condition. This procedure provides directions for installation of the enhanced components. Reports of looseness have accompanied reports that vehicle operators have folded exterior mirrors inward. As clearly stated in the Hino ownerâs manual, the structure of the mirror stay does not allow for folding.

Certain 2017 ~ 2020 model year Hino Conventional vehicles were manufactured with a modified jumper harness between the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and vehicle chassis. The modified jumper harness may allow for potential water intrusion of the modified jumper harness. Water intrusion may cause illumination of the check transmission light on the dashboard. If the illuminated check transmission light is ignored, the transmission may go into fail-safe (or âlimpâ mode as it is also called) to protect the transmission from internal damage that could be caused by the fault. While in fail-safe (or limp mode) the transmission will be locked in either 3rd. or 4th. gear. This procedure will provide instruction for replacement of the transmission jumper harness.

TT-17-017 The P0500 typically sets due to a short or sensor concern. Since the speed is sent to the meter then to the ECU, suspect a concern between the meter and engine ECU. If so, unplug the radio and see if the concern changes. A speed wire was added to the radio connectors for speed controlled radio volume. If an aftermarket radio is installed, it will short this wire, set the P0500 and cause the concern experienced. See the below wiring diagrams.

The engine ECU (Engine Control Unit) on all 2016MY-2018MY trucks contained in dealer inventory need to be reprogrammed prior to delivery. Subject vehicles contain an error in the DEF monitoring program. To eliminate this situation, it is necessary to reprogram the engine ECU with improved software prior to sale of the vehicle.

TT-17-009 Beginning with 2017 model year, all Hino vehicles are equipped with a particulate matter (PM) sensor near the exhaust exit. A ceramic sensing element is used in the PM sensor and can be damaged or broken if the sensor is dropped or impact occurs to the head of the sensor. If removal or replacement of the PM sensor is necessary, care should be taken with both the old and new sensors to prevent any damage or additional damage to the sensor. For warranty consideration, the PM sensor MUST be returned in the original box and the plastic protective cap installed. 2017 and 2018 model year Conventional trucks and COE (Cab Over Engine) trucks.
