167-B1624-12

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

SB-16-020 An enhanced fuel cut valve is available to address a potential sticking condition that results in excess residual pressure in the dosing injector (7thinjector) supply pipe. A sticking fuel cut valve may result in the following DTC?s (diagnostic trouble codes) setting: 1. If DTC P0005 (fuel cut valve stuck closed) sets in the engine ECU, replace the fuel cut valve with the part number listed below. 2. If DTC P20DE (pressure sensor performance invalid) or DTC P20DF (pressure sensor signal too low) set in the engine ECU, this could be a result of the fuel cut valve sticking. Follow the workshop manual diagnostic procedure in section 4 of the Hino Workshop Manual (J05E Engine Control System) for the DTC. Also, inspect for signs of fuel contamination that could restrict the fuel filter or bubble separator filter. If no issues are identified with fuel contamination, and the workshop manual procedure does not identify a concern, replace the fuel cut valve with the part number listed below.

167-B1604-12

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

SB-16-016 Enhanced DCU (Dosing Control Unit) software has been released to address the following conditions: Illumination of the check engine light. The DCU may falsely detect an issue and record any of the 3 following DTC?s in the DCU. P142A(DEF pump temperature sensor - Out of range) P204B(DEF pressure sensor ? Rationality) P20A1(Reverting valve for DEF pump stuck close) In rare cases, the completion of the after-run process might be mistakenly aborted. This occurs when the ignition key is cycled back on and then off prior to after-run completion. If this occurs when ambient temperatures are below freezing and the urea is allowed to fully freeze, internal damage to the DEF pump may occur. Once damaged, urea could migrate into the DEF pump electrical connector and SCR harness resulting in corrosion. This corrosion could result in detection of any combination of SCR(Selective Catalyst Reductant) DTC?s including but not limited to: P142A(DEF pump temperature sensor - Out of range) P208A(DEF pump motor circuit - Open load) P208B(DEF pump motor - Functional) The enhanced DCU software prevents the after-run process from being aborted prior to completion.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

SB-15-030 On subject vehicles, the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) may illuminate with DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U02A2 stored in the engine ECU. This may be due to a malfunction of the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) tank sensor assembly. Perform the diagnostic procedure for DTC U02A2 as outlined by the Workshop Manual (DEF SCR System Section for Conventional Vehicles, Engine Troubleshooting Section for COE Vehicles). If the diagnostic procedure leads to DEF tank sensor replacement, a more robust DEF tank sensor has been made available.

The work procedure provides for correction of the lean by adding or subtracting shims from the front leaf springs. This procedure should only be performed prior to a body being installed on the vehicle. An improperly installed body may either create the illusion of a cab lean, or actually cause the cab to lean.
