Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

Service bulletin - Honda is launching a Safety and Emissions Recall on all model year 2013 through 2015 CB500F/FA and CBR500R/RA motorcycles. Honda has determined that the fuel level sensor float arm can become disconnected, which results in an inaccurate fuel gauge display and a rattling noise within the fuel tank. An inaccurately displayed fuel level could cause the motorcycle to unexpectedly run out of fuel. In some instances the engine may stall or fail to start due to a blown FI fuse (15 A) caused by the float arm contacting the fuel pump terminals.

SERVICE BULLETIN - HONDA IS LAUNCHING A SAFETY AND EMISSIONS RECALL ON ALL MODEL YEAR 2013 THROUGH 2015 CB500F/FA AND CBR500R/RA MOTORCYCLES. HONDA HAS DETERMINED THAT WHILE RIDING THE MOTORCYCLE THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FLOAT ARM CAN BECOME DISCONNECTED, WHICH RESULTS IN AN INACCURATE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAY AND A RATTLING NOISE WITHIN THE FUEL TANK. IN SOME INSTANCES THE ENGINE MAY STALL OR FAIL TO START DUE TO A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSED BY THE FLOAT ARM CONTACTING THE FUEL PUMP TERMINALS.

Dealer message - Honda is launching a SAFETY RECALL on the following models. Effective immediately, YOU MUST NOT SELL any 2013 model year CBR500R/RA, CB500F/FA, or CB500X/XA within the following affected VIN ranges until it is repaired according to the Service Bulletin repair procedure.
Complaint counts are reports filed with NHTSA, not failure rates. A common model collects more of them than a rare one that breaks more often.
