The following information is provided to clearly explain Isuzuâs policy for control module (engine, transmission, antilock brake, instrument panel, body control, power interface, etc.) reprogramming. Control module calibrations are regularly updated for many reasons. These reasons may include, but are not limited to: model year change, software corrections, certification compliance, product improvement and specific application requirements. However, the mere existence of a newer control module calibration does not necessarily mean that warranty coverage exists or that the calibration must be installed. It is not our policy to update control modules, under warranty or after warranty, based solely on the availability of a newer calibration file. Below are our guidelines for reprogramming control modules.

This bulletin provides information with regards to the Isuzu Commercial Vehicle (CV) Service Policies and Procedures Manual (SPPM). The Isuzu CV SPPM (sections 2.15 and 2.16) provides detailed procedures related to vehicle storage up to and beyond 30 days. Performing these required procedures at the specified intervals will properly maintain vehicles until they are retailed. Failure to follow the procedures outlined may result in repairs and additional costs that could have been avoided. We are providing dealers with this brief overview of the recommended procedures as a reminder to maintain older inventory. Failures resulting from improper, or lack of, storage procedures are not covered under the vehicle factory warranty.

CONDITION General Motors LLC, the manufacturer of the engine in your vehicle, has determined that certain 2020-2023MY N-Series vehicles produced from 8/26/2020 through 7/31/2022 and equipped with 6.6L (L8T) gasoline engines may experience water intrusion into the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor connector. If water intrudes into this connection, you may experience engine performance issues as well as setting the Check Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). CORRECTION Dealers will replace the MAF sensor and apply additional sealing tape to the MAF connection for waterproof protection on affected vehicles. This service will be provided free of charge.

Isuzu Commercial Truck of America (ICTA) has been receiving warranty part returns that have aftermarket catalytic converters welded in place instead of the OEM catalytic converter. This is because vehicle owners who have had the OEM or Fleet Value catalytic converters stolen from their vehicles often replace the stolen catalytic converters aftermarket with non-Isuzu parts. When those replacement parts fail and cause the check engine light to illuminate, vehicle owners may seek to have the non-Isuzu replacement catalytic converter repaired or replaced under warranty. In fact, however, neither the new vehicle warranty nor the one-year replacement part warranty covers the failed non-Isuzu part.

What is IDA? IDA is a diagnostic program that provides: 1) DTC Analysis: IDA analyzed DTCs (currently 35) and then provides quick and easy-to-understand repair solutions 2) DPF Early Regeneration Warning: IDA also reviews the three latest DPF regeneration odometer readings in the Health Report of the applicable VIN on IDA. IDA then analyzes the distances between the three regenerations. If the average of these distances is less than 55 km for a 4HK1 (5.2L) engine, or less than 70 km for a 4JJ1 (3.0L) engine, an alert will be shown on the IDA page in the form of a red regeneration icon. This is an early warning indication that a problem may be forming in the DPF regeneration cycle. However, if the enabling criteria shown above are not met, a regeneration icon will not appear on the IDA for that particular VIN. Detailed instructions on how to use IDA are included in this bulletin.

We have received reports of the front turn signal lenses cracking on Isuzu vehicles. These lenses are cracking from the effects of being washed with alkaline detergents. Alkaline detergents are typically used in industrial settings and are reactive with the paint, metals, and other materials used to make up the exterior components of Isuzu vehicles. Isuzu recommends that only neutral detergents be used when washing Isuzu vehicles. However, if alkaline detergents are used to wash an Isuzu vehicle, it is crucial that all traces of the detergent are rinsed away with water or wiped off as necessary. Allowing alkaline detergent to dry on the turn signal lenses will cause them to crack. Each Isuzu vehicle is originally equipped with an Owner's Manual that includes guidelines for the proper exterior maintenance of the vehicle. The following guidelines are typical of those found in an Isuzu Owner's Manual concerning the use of detergents on a vehicle's exterior.

All engines require oil to lubricate and protect the load bearing and internal moving parts from wear including cylinder walls, pistons, and piston rings. When a piston moves down its cylinder, a thin film of oil is left on the cylinder wall. During the combustion process, part of this oil layer is consumed. As a result, varying rates of oil consumption are accepted as normal in all engines. The purpose of this bulletin is to describe different instances where oil consumption occurs and to make available a worksheet to assist the technician in determining if oil consumption is excessive.

Some customers with N-series vehicles may notice an audible clicking or chattering noise coming from the rear of the vehicle while making tight turns. This condition may be due to incorrect axle fluid having been used during the last scheduled maintenance or in a previous repair. The primary purpose of the TCM Freeze Frame Data is to obtain faster and more accurate quality information on the Aisin A465 6-speed transmission replaced components. The collected information will be used to improve the reliability of OEM and service replacement transmission components.

Some customers may experience a "Crank No Start" condition in the vehicles listed. The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicles exhibits the symptom(s) described in this Information Bulletin. Condition/Concern On rare occasions, a crank no start may be encountered on a 6.0 V8 engine. During diagnosis, the technician will find proper fuel pressure, spark from each spark plug wire, and proper injector pulse. However, the following concerns will be noted during their diagnosis: low static compression, excessive cylinder leakage past an intake or exhaust valve, the engine may start but run poorly if the CMP sensor is disconnected, and/or the valve train may not move while cranking the engine. This concern may be the result of a sheared camshaft sprocket locating pin due to the camshaft seizing to the camshaft bearings at one time.

The following table contains many possible causes for the following symptoms. -Hard Start/No Start -Rough, Misfire, Unstable or Incorrect Idle -Surges, Lack of Power, Hesitation, Lag or Stumble While some of these symptoms may lead to component replacement, the replacement should not be considered a completed repair. These types of symptoms have a high probability for a repeat repair since the true source of the failure is typically fuel contamination. In order to improve the overall repair and reduce the potential repeat failures, the procedure below is provided to assist in identifying the source of fuel contamination. Additionally, this bulletin will provide information to clarify the meaning of injector balancing rates and how to apply the values when trying to diagnose the Isuzu common rail fuel system.

Beginning October 2021, Isuzu dealers are able to access, through www.isuzutruckservice.com, all of the Isuzu Vehicle Health Report Data (MMU Data) associated with 2011MY and newer vehicles serviced by their dealership in a new, user friendly VHR. Look for the VHR tab after you log in. n contrast to the previous design, the new VHR exists in a central database easily accessed by dealership personnel at any time from any PC with internet access. Users will be able to quickly select vehicles by entering a VIN (partial or all 17 digits) or select from a list of the VINs most recently downloaded by their dealership to create a VHR.

AN EGR COOLER TESTER WAS PROVIDED TO DEALERS IN JUNE 2009 TO DIAGNOSE EGR COOLER LEAKS ON ALL ISUZU DIESEL ENGINES EQUIPPED WITH AN EGR COOLER. THIS TESTER CONSISTS OF A PRESSURE REGULATOR ASSEMBLY J-46091-1 AND ADAPTERS EN-48974-5, EN-48974-15, AND EN-48974-30. IMPORTANT: LEAKS FROM THE EGR COOLER MAY ALLOW COOLANT OT PASS THROUGH THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND ENTER THE COMBUSTION CHAMBERS. FAILURE TO INSPECT THE EGR COOLER FOR LEAKS MAY LEAD TO A MISDIAGNOSIS FOR ENGINE COOLANT IN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER. IMPORTANT: LEAKS FROM THE EGR COOLER MAY ALLOW EXHAUST GAS AIR TO PASS TO THE ENGINE COOLANT PASSAGE WITHIN THE EGR COOLER.
