Rear Taillamp Condensation Clearing Procedure On occasion, vehicle exterior taillamp assemblies get fogged with a light layer of condensation on the SYMPTOM: inside of the lenses Fig. 1. This may be reported after the lamps have been turned on and brought up to operating temperature, turned off and then rapidly cooled by cold water (such as rain, or the water from a vehicle wash). Lens fogging can also occur under certain atmospheric conditions after a vehicle has been parked outside overnight (i.e. a warm humid day followed by clear cool night). This will usually clear as atmospheric conditions change to allow the condensation to change back into a vapor. Turning the taillamps on will usually accelerate this process. This bulletin is to communicate the procedure for rear taillamp condensation clearing.

Rear Taillamp Condensation Clearing Procedure On occasion, vehicle exterior taillamp assemblies are fogged with a light layer of condensation on the inside of the lenses Fig. 1. This may be reported after the lamps have been turned on and brought up to operating temperature, turned off and then rapidly cooled by cold water (such as rain, or the water from a vehicle wash). Lens fogging can also occur under certain atmospheric conditions after a vehicle has been parked outside overnight (i.e. a warm humid day followed by clear cool night). This will usually clear as atmospheric conditions change to allow the condensation to change back into a vapor. Turning the taillamps on will usually accelerate this process. GENERATOR Engine Prior to alternator/generator removal: 1. Inspect & check all electrical connections to the alternator a. 2-way connector containing field control circuit & alternator sense voltage circuit. b. Unplug & plug-in the 2-way connector for field & sense circuit. Verify the connection is tight & check for any bent pins in alternator connector or damage to female terminals in connector. c. Check Alternator B+ Stud connection to be sure nut is securing positive cable terminal properly (i.e. nut is clamping terminal & connection is tight). d. Check fuse between the alternator B+ stud & PDC terminal to make sure it is not blown. e. Be sure to follow service manual sections on ALTERNATOR CONTROL CIRCUIT DIAGNOSTIC & ALTERNATOR SENSE CIRCUIT DIAGNOSTIC looking for any opens & shorts (to ground or battery voltage). 2. Check/verify all grounds in the charging system circuit a. Check tightness of mounting bolts securing alternator to engine block. Alternator is a case ground component. b. Check main ground from engine to chassis; connection must be tight. c. Check battery ground cable connections are tight. d. Potentially, loosen alternator mounting bolts, without removing alternator, and re-tighten to torque specifications in service manual. e. After all steps above are complete, re-start engine & check charging system operation. 3. Verify that the Smart Charging System is not the reason for alternator low voltage & current output (Amps). a. Alternator charging can be suspended during engine idle operation because of the Smart Charge strategy. b. Refer to service manual section "System Operation - Smart Charging System". c. Refer to Star Case S2008000031 Rev A for low charging voltage & Smart Charge Mode Voltage Range diagram & mode descriptions. d. The alternator has no internal regulator; thus, has no smart circuitry. All alternator control signals come from ECM. 4. If alternator is faulty, remove alternator & mounting bolts. Return alternator with bolts for analysis at QEC.

Driver Airbag with Module Damper Model year 2022 Jeep Compass, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer all utilize next generation Driver Airbag (DAB) and steering wheel systems. These new systems use the mass of the DAB as a damper to reduce steering wheel vibration experienced by the driver. The DAB is still securely attached to the steering wheel but now has specially tuned isolators to allow a small amount of damping movement of the DAB. A driver of these vehicles may, at times, notice this movement or vibration of the DAB within the steering wheel compared to past systems; however, this is normal and an expected function of the damping system.

Transmission Kit with Torque Converter 1. All Promaster (VF) 3.6L/62TE equipped vehicles. If the transmission bracket to the transmission case fasteners are removed during servicing, the fasteners (Part Number 06511385A$) are one-time usage. Vehicles built prior to 10/23/2015 requires Service Kit PN 68461214AA; includes Transmission Isolator PN 68264483AA, and Adaptation Bracket 68264479AA and Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA Vehicles built after on or after 10/23/2015 will require only the Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA. 2. All 3.6L/62TE equipped vehicles. If the vehicle you are repairing has a crack in the flex plate or failed pump bushing inspect and confirm that both (2) dowel pins are present in the engine block, which align the transmission center line to the crank shaft centerline and visually inspect the dowel alignment holes in the transmission case. If the holes are damaged or elongated the transmission should be replaced to prevent further damage to the transmission/flexplate or pump bushing due to the inability to properly align the engine to the transmission during the repair. 3. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If pump bushing is scored or damaged and the dowel pin alignment holes are ok, replace the pump assembly as opposed to complete transmission. 4. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If vehicle is jerking/slipping with MIL code(s) P0740 or P2764, check TCC Solenoid operation. If TCC Solenoid is ok, the codes are indicative of a torque converter failure. Replace the torque converter.
