ADJUSTER Valve Lash Customer's complaint may include a ticking noise coming from the engine. Technician's observations can refer to spongy or stuck hydraulic lash adjusters. Exhaust lash adjusters found with a "spongy" condition (compressible plunger) leading to the assumption of being defective/malfunctioning. EXHAUST lash adjusters are designed to be COMPRESSIBLE by hand. Intake lash adjusters found with a stiff or stuck condition (non-compressible plunger) leading to the assumption of being defective/malfunctioning. INTAKE lash adjusters are designed to be NON COMPRESSIBLE by hand. Do Not Replace EXHAUST lash adjusters when the following condition is present: should be compressible, but they will exert a reactionary spring force during compression and return to full expansion without a compression force. Do Not Replace INTAKE lash adjusters when the following condition is present: should feel very firm and difficult to compress. Once the correct functioning of the intake and exhaust lash adjusters is validated with the procedure above, refer to the Service Manual "HYDRAULIC LIFTER(S) NOISE DIAGNOSIS" procedure. After the corresponding service procedures from the Service Manual involving the Lash Adjusters have been conducted, refer to the detailed instructions in the Service Manual to diagnose and/or service any other component.

High mileage failure (10,000-60,000 miles). 1. Remove the valve cover(s) per the released service procedures. The use of a stethoscope or DTC specific cylinder misfire codes can help to locate the condition to the left or right bank. 2. Once it has been visually confirmed that there is wear on the high lift intake lobe(s) & rocker arm(s) slider, there is a special service kit for this type of repair which should be used, instead of replacing the complete engine/long block. This kit contains the parts required for the repair (intake cam, rocker arms, sealer and gaskets). Once it is confirmed that the repair will be done using the camshaft/Rocker arms kit, it is also important to confirm that the vehicle being repaired has the latest calibration/software update for oil pump operation mode (high pressure mode) during engine start up. RU, VF, WL & WD vehicles already include the latest oil pump mode in all 25MY and beyond. 24MY service releases are also available. JL & JT were updated as a running change in 24MY and beyond (08/15/24 & 08/19/24 respectively). 24MY service releases available. DT was updated starting 25MY and beyond. If the vehicle to be repaired is a 24MY vehicle with a service release available, please follow the released service procedures to update to the corresponding calibration/software update.

Transmission Kit with Torque Converter 1. All Promaster (VF) 3.6L/62TE equipped vehicles. If the transmission bracket to the transmission case fasteners are removed during servicing, the fasteners (Part Number 06511385A$) are one-time usage. Vehicles built prior to 10/23/2015 requires Service Kit PN 68461214AA; includes Transmission Isolator PN 68264483AA, and Adaptation Bracket 68264479AA and Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA Vehicles built after on or after 10/23/2015 will require only the Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA. 2. All 3.6L/62TE equipped vehicles. If the vehicle you are repairing has a crack in the flex plate or failed pump bushing inspect and confirm that both (2) dowel pins are present in the engine block, which align the transmission center line to the crank shaft centerline and visually inspect the dowel alignment holes in the transmission case. If the holes are damaged or elongated the transmission should be replaced to prevent further damage to the transmission/flexplate or pump bushing due to the inability to properly align the engine to the transmission during the repair. 3. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If pump bushing is scored or damaged and the dowel pin alignment holes are ok, replace the pump assembly as opposed to complete transmission. 4. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If vehicle is jerking/slipping with MIL code(s) P0740 or P2764, check TCC Solenoid operation. If TCC Solenoid is ok, the codes are indicative of a torque converter failure. Replace the torque converter.

To maintain production and service requirements, FOBIKs affected by the shortage will be available on an ?as required basis?. This FOBIK should only be ordered in the event the vehicle is inoperable, and there are no other FOBIKs available. It is requested the customer uses their spare FOBIK until supply is once again available. On some 2021 vehicles, they will be sold with only one FOBIK, and will have sales code ?GXZ?. For these vehicles a CSN (Customer Satisfaction Notification) will be released to replace the FOBIK once supply is available. A unique part number will be used for this campaign. For these vehicles, only order a replacement FOBIK in a vehicle down situation. Due to the global shortage, once service inventory of this part is depleted, there may not be any additional parts available for service for an extended period of time. This may cause customer dissatisfaction and extended vehicle down time. We appreciate everyone?s consideration and cooperation to only order this part in a vehicle down situation.

DAMPER, Steering Additional service procedure steps before replacing the steering damper: Before istalling the steering damper to the vehicle, it is important to prime the new damper by 5 continuous compression ? extension stroke cycles by hand, each cycle consists of a full compression and a full extension stroke, without stops as fast as possible. Use large screwdrivers inserted in the bushings to aid in purging. This will allow you to stand on the lower screwdriver to hold the damper stationary and pump the rod end easier. Perform purge before installing NOTE: Hand purge to be completed in a vertical position with the base cup sticker end down toward the ground and the rod side facing up.See CSN V41 for detail procedure.

SEAL, Input If looking to replace stubshaft due to ATX fluid leaking, do not replace PTU seals. None of the seals from the PTU side will need to be replaced whenever the ATX stubshaft is replaced, even though V-seal (68408748A$) is in direct contact with the stubshaft, it will not avoid grease/oil leakage from transmission side. PTU V-seals are intended to act as a dust cover for stubshaft - PTU input shaft spline interface.  PTU Input shaft seal (68408749A$) is intended to hold PTU oil and debris ingress; it should be replaced only if the fluid leakage is confirmed to be PTU oil and not ATX trans. fluid.
