Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

TITLE - Carconfig update on EmiraDS. REASON - A new Carconfig file is available on EmiraDS to support any future ECU (Electronic Control Unit) software upgrades. Because the Carconfig is a common file shared across all ECU software packages, the “New Software Available” notification will be displayed on multiple ECUs, (except for CPC, EIS, EMS, FSCM, and TCM 2L ECUs). Important - This does not necessarily indicate that a specific upgrade is required for each ECU listed, but if a software notification is also available for the DDM (Driver Door Module), upgrading the DDM first will clear the notification for all other ECUs that do not have individually applicable upgrades. ACTION - If a vehicle connected to EmiraDS is displaying the “New Software Available” notification across multiple ECUs, then check to see if software notification is also available for the DDM. Upgrade the DDM first and then check to see if the “New Software Available” notification on other ECU’s has now been deleted.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

TITLE Availability of Emira service replacement lower front wishbone ball joint dust covers. REASON An unfinished rough edge, on the steering knuckle assemblies (hub carriers), can, under full suspension/steering movement, contact the lower wishbone ball joint dust cover, resulting in premature wear or damage to the dust cover. Service level dust covers are now available which prevent the replacement of complete front lower wishbones assemblies and associated labour times for suspension/steering alignment procedures because of split or damaged ball joint dust covers. ACTION If damage to the ball joint dust cover as shown above is seen during an underbody inspection (such as routine servicing etc), but the ball joint is still in a serviceable condition, then the rough edge of the steering knuckle casting should be smoothed and the ball joint dust cover replaced.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Odometer mileage adjustment implications of module substitutions on Emira vehicles. For security, necessary data collection and to ensure the correct vehicle mileage is maintained in the event of a DIM/DHU (Driver Information Module/Display Head Unit) replacement, other specific modules as well as the odometer are constantly recording information such as vehicle speed, operating hours and the total vehicle mileage at the same time. Modules Recording Mileage Data Emira DIM (Driver Information Module) SRS (Supplementary Restraint System) module CEM (Central Electronic Module) VDDM (Vehicle Dynamics Domain Module) ECM (Electronic Control Module) Sometimes components including modules are taken either from stock or substituted/swapped over from other vehicles available to aid in diagnosing the cause of a fault with an owner’s vehicle. Any of the modules listed above must NEVER be fitted from a ‘donor’ (correctly functioning vehicle) for this purpose, as once connected to the faulty vehicle, the module with the highest mileage will overwrite the current recorded mileage stored in ALL those modules to that higher mileage. Never be tempted to swap over any of the modules shown on page 1 of the bulletin for either diagnostic fault finding purposes, or in an attempt to get an Emira back on the road.

Checking the pyrotechnic seat belt pre-tensioner harness connector for security. The SRS (Supplementary Restraint System) seat belt pre-tensioner harness connectors are fitted with locking tabs to ensure their security to their pretensioner/seat belt reel assemblies. It cannot be confirmed if the locking tabs to the 2023 - 2025 model year VIN range* have been correctly secured during the production build process. *Safe VIN from SCCLEJAX1SHA11255. There is a possibility that the harness connectors may loosen or disconnect if the locking tabs are not secured, which may result in inoperative seat belt pre-tensioners and a warning message being displayed in the driver display module (SRS Service Required). Note: The mechanical locking functionality of the seat belts will still operate as normal even if the warning message is displayed.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Fitment of tail lamp link lead harnesses to prevent rear tail lamp failure. Under a specific usage condition* one or both of the rear tail lamps can stop illuminating. *Hazard warning lights have been continuously activated for a prolonged time period with the ignition off and the tailgate closed. Turning the ignition on or opening the tailgate will reactivate the position lights, but the turn indicator fault will remain. Only turning on the engine will reactivate the CEM and correct the turn indicator fault. Link leads fitted between the engine compartment harness and rear lamp connector plugs are now fitted as a production running change to resolve this issue. The actions of this bulletin supersede the contents of Technical Service Bulletin TSB-131-26004 which affected 2024/2025 model year 4-cylinder vehicles only.

131-26009

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Availability of ASO exhaust muffler (rear silencer) valve actuator as service replacement part. Until recently the failure of the exhaust muffler valve actuator has required the exhaust muffler and valve to be renewed as a complete assembly. The exhaust muffler valve actuator is now available as a separate replacement part. The advantages of not having to replace the combined assembly are for a faulty actuator are: - Less labour-intensive procedure to replace. - More practical to keep an exhaust muffler valve actuator as a parts stock item. If an exhaust muffler valve actuator is diagnosed as faulty then please determine if the exhaust flow valve mechanism in the rear silencer is operating and moving correctly*, if it is then please fit a new valve actuator instead of a complete muffler assembly. *Actuator replacement is only suitable if the exhaust flow valve mechanism in the rear silencer is operating and moving correctly. If the exhaust flow valve is not operating or seized, then the exhaust silencer or actuator assembly should be replaced.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Installation of the latest DIM (Driver Information Module) software release. Following release of a previous DIM software release (IP18O.02), a false positive telematic notification is triggered in Central and South Americas vehicles which are not fitted with a Telematics Module (TEM). This generates an unnecessary warning symbol and failure message in the DIM for those market vehicles. A new global DIM software upgrade is available on EmiraDS classed as ‘Urgent’ for those market vehicles to resolve this issue. This upgrade is classed as ‘Non-urgent’ for all other market vehicles. Because this is a ‘Non-urgent’ upgrade, it is recommended to only perform this specific software upgrade in the event that the vehicle enters the workshop for any other service, repair or Class 2 action campaign work etc, allowing this upgrade to download at the same time. Any affected vehicle’s campaign status will be displayed on the Lotus Commercial Management System (LCMS). This software upgrade will not affect current vehicle functionality.

Diagnosing medium temperature engine coolant thermostat operation to prevent unnecessary thermostat replacement. The information in this bulletin is intended as a procedure that should be performed if a 4-cylinder Emira has generated Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P2CEF00 Auxiliary Thermostat “A” Stuck Open (see image for thermostat location). Generation of DTC P2CEF00 may also result in: - Illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). - A low coolant temperature warning message being displayed. IMPORTANT: Do not continue with the procedure in this bulletin If DTC P2CEF00 has NOT BEEN generated. 1. If the thermostat MOVES FREELY when heated and cooled, then refit the original thermostat with a new gasket and refill the engine with new antifreeze/coolant. 2. If the thermostat DOES NOT move freely when heated and cooled, then fit a NEW thermostat and gasket and refill the engine with new antifreeze/coolant. Carefully package the thermostat and contact Emira Support using LCMS to arrange collection.

Under certain conditions the warning message shown to the right can be activated in the driver display when both the brake lamps and a turn signal are activated at the same time. The cause of this issue has been identified as the unique Federal rear lamp combined position/brake/turn indicator configuration. Even with this message displayed, the tail lamp and turn signal should work as intended. Fit the tail lamp link harness between the connectors. Repeat the procedure on the right-hand side rear tail lamp. Put the vehicle into active or driving mode and activate the brake lamps and turn signals at the same time to ensure that the warning massage does not appear in the driver display before refitting the wheel arch liners and rear wheels.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Brake pad to rotor stiction damage caused by incorrect vehicle storage maintenance. REASON - Prolonged contact between brake pads and rotors (discs) can result in them sticking to each other (also referred to as brake stiction). This could result in the brake pad material pulling away from its backing plate when the vehicle is eventually moved. Brake stiction occurs when the vehicle remains stationary for extended time periods and can also be exacerbated by: - Long term storage in a moist environment. - The presence of chemical contaminates (such as those found in some cleaning products). - Salt contaminated moisture in coastal regions. Background - Brake stiction is a known issue for sports cars such as the Emira. This is caused by several factors such as the specific chemical composition of the brake pad/rotor material as well as the brake pad, caliper and rotor geometry set up required to achieve the desired braking performance characteristics expected from a sports car. The Lotus Emira was designed and developed as a high-performance sports car and the engineering selection of a mixed metal pad material, the dimensions, and other specifications were tested and approved by the attributes team as well as tested to meet the stringent vehicle homologation targets across the regions, and durability requirements. ACTION - Due to a small number of complaints where brake pad separation has occurred caused by stiction on very low mileage cars, Lotus wishes to confirm to their importers and retail partners the importance of following the vehicle stock maintenance guidelines. Also refer to the ‘Dynamic’ section in long term storage check list attached to the end of this bulletin. As well as to stress that after any cleaning the vehicle it should be driven to dry the brakes, and vehicles should not be exposed to prolonged high humidity or stored in wet areas. To ensure ongoing enjoyment of the product, a specific recommendation was included in the customer handbook under the vehicle maintenance and care section: “NOTE: To prevent binding between the brake pads and discs as well as avoiding any potential corrosion, it is recommended to drive the vehicle for a short distance immediately after washing”.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Generation of P0507 DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) when selecting ‘Sport’ or ‘Track’ mode. For Emira 4-cylinder 2024/2025 model year vehicles, a fault within the EMS (Engine Management System) software can cause the unnecessary generation of DTC P0507 if ‘Sport’ or ‘Track’ mode are selected in the sequence as shown below. With the vehicle stationary and engine running, the specific steps to recreate the fault are: - The engine speed has previously exceeded 4200 rpm in the same drive cycle that you wish to select ‘Sport’ or ‘Track’. - Depressing the brake pedal when either ‘Sport’ or ‘Track’ mode is selected. - Then activating the parking brake with the brake pedal still depressed and then selecting D - Drive. - Then releasing the brake pedal with the parking brake still activated. - This will cause the engine speed will rise to 1100 rpm and approximately after 4 seconds, will result in DTC P0507 being generated. Note: This fault within the EMS software affects all market vehicles but will not be noticed except for Chinese and Federal markets, because for those markets, it will result in the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) being permanently illuminated until the fault code is cleared using EmiraDS. ACTION For Chinese and Federal Market Vehicles If you are presented with a 4-cylinder Emira where the MIL has been illuminated because of DTC P0507 generation: - Please confirm with the vehicle owner if the MIL became illuminated after selecting ‘Sport or ‘Track’ mode? If the owner is unsure, and you have checked and eliminated all other faults associated with DTC P0507 (engine idle speed higher than expected), such as an air intake leak or throttle sticking etc, then: - Clear the code and ask the owner to monitor the situation. Explain to the owner that if they wish to select ‘Sport’ or ‘Track’ mode, then ensure: - That they do not allow the car to remain stationary in D - Drive with only the parking brake activated (i.e. brake pedal should be depressed or either N - Neutral or P - Park selected). - Then, with the brake pedal still depressed and the parking brake still active, select D- Drive. - Then with the brake pedal still depressed, manually release/deactivate the parking brake Or; - Release the brake pedal and the parking brake will automatically release/deactivate. - Allow the vehicle to move forwards or depress the throttle to achieve the desired acceleration.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Inspection of transmission driveshaft fitment/security if specific faults are reported. Lotus has received reports from the dealer network of: ̵ Loss of drive. ̵ Oil leaking from the transmission driveshaft seals. ̵ Transmission noise while driving. It has been identified that a potential cause of these issues is as a result of the driveshafts not being fully locked in position into the transmission at the time of vehicle assembly. Start of production for both Emira V6 powertrain (manual and automatic) and Emira 4-cylinder DCT up to 2025 model year VIN SCCLEKAX4RHB12094 inclusive. If an Emira owner contacts you, or you are presented with a vehicle within the affected VIN range which has any of the transmission faults listed above*, then the following transmission components must be checked for damage caused by incorrect installation: ̵ Driveshaft splines. ̵ Driveshaft circlips. ̵ Driveshaft oil seal. *Note: If the only fault is transmission fluid leakage from a driveshaft seal because the driveshaft is not fully locked into position and the vehicle is only at delivery mileage (less than 100 miles/160 km), then it is acceptable to push the driveshaft back into position if a visual inspection shows that the driveshaft seal has not been damaged, (and then check/top up the transmission oil level). Refer to the operation codes for driveshaft removal and re-fitment shown in sections 47.15. for both V6 and 4-cylinder powertrains from the Emira service notes which are available to view from the aftersales dealer portal at: https://dealerportal.uslotservice.lotuscars.com/log-in - from the Aftersales tab, select Service Manuals > Emira.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Important information for a temporary recovery procedure for the Central Powertrain Controller (CPC Module). Updated software was recently released for the CPC module, but because of reported failures to complete the programming successfully when trying to upload the software, which had left some vehicles immobile* and CPC recovery cannot be achieved without performing a CPC RELOAD, therefore this update option has been temporarily disabled. *Because the CPC module in a partially programmed state cannot operate or communicate correctly with the vehicle networks. ACTION It is expected to re-enable this feature soon, but once enabled, if there is a failure to complete the programming successfully during an upgrade, please contact Emira Support (detailing on an LCMS ticket that this request requires LTIL Emira Support assistance).

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

New operation required for Emira service schedule sheets. During normal road use, it has been identified that dirt/grease/road debris can accumulate around the WSS (Wheel Speed Sensors) and the magnetic rings located on the rear of the hub units. This accumulation may affect the signal being transmitted to the VDDM (Vehicle Dynamics Domain Master), also known as the ABS module, which can result in the generation of diagnostic trouble codes, activating the illumination of the amber colour MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp). ACTION To ensure continuing customer satisfaction, Lotus will update the ‘Braking’ section of the V6 and 4-Cylinder Emira service schedule sheets to include a new operation to remove any loose debris on all four WSS using a suitable airline, then inspect and clean the WSS with a clean cloth and brake cleaner to remove any dirt deposits. At the same time the corresponding magnetic rings on the rear of the hub units should also be cleaned. This new procedure should be carried out at every service interval. Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Potential cause of dTPMS (direct Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor failure. Lotus has been made aware of that some Emira vehicles have been affected by inaccurate dTPMS tire pressure readings being displayed, or, in some instances, tire pressure readings not being displayed at all. One cause of this issue has been identified as the excessive water-based lubricant being applied to fit the tire valve to the wheel rim at the wheel assembly procedure. The moisture/humidity entering the tire pressure monitoring sensor, causes corrosion and damage to the internal circuits, resulting in communication failures between the sensors and the vehicle. As a production running change, from VIN SCCLEKAX3RHB13186, a smaller quantity of gel-based lubricant is now used to fit the tire valve to the wheel rim. ACTION If diagnosing a dTPMS fault on an Emira (prior to 2024 model year VIN shown above)*, because of inaccurate dTPMS tire pressure readings, or no readings displayed at all, then: - Use the diagnostic flow chart shown on Technical Service Bulletin TSB-131-24009. - If the diagnostic route taken states that the next course of action is to replace a TPMS sensor(s), then request prior authorisation to fit a vehicle set (4) dTPMS sensors.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Fitment of lower spring seat isolator to front damper assemblies to eliminate scraping noise whilst driving. Movement between the contact areas of the front damper spring seats and road springs can cause a scraping noise whilst driving. If this scraping action is occurring, then it will also cause visible witness marks on the spring seat/spring contact area. To prevent this scraping action on customer vehicles, the isolators already fitted to the upper spring seat, can now also be fitted to the base of the front road springs. As a production running change, lower spring seat isolators will also be fitted from: Emira V6 VIN: SCCLEKAX5PHN10585

Trouble shooting flow chart to show the process of self-diagnosing tyre pressure monitoring system faults before contacting Emira Support. The descriptions of Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC’s), generated if a fault is detected in the TPMS, may identify the general monitoring system or circuit where a fault has been detected, but may not be able determine the specific module, component, or circuit location at fault. Therefore, DTC information can be misinterpreted by the technician resulting in excessive time, or unnecessary replacement of TPMS module components to rectify the TPMS fault.
