Mack Trucks has received reports from the aftermarket regarding oil leaks at the CCV housing inlet tube and at the split line between the upper and lower housings on chassis builds between January 1, 2014 and January 26, 2016 with MP7, MP8, and MP10 engines. It has been determined that the O-ring installed on the inlet tube is the source of the leak and oil may leak down the back of the housing giving the impression that the housing split line is also leaking.

On MACK vehicles built between July 6, 2015 and January 15, 2016 equipped with a MACK CRD 150 carrier, the mounting bolt hole on the driver side of the power divider housing which lines up with the fill plug is drilled through to the fill plug hole. This can create a path for a leak around the threads of the mounting bolt. The remaining five mounting bolt holes are blind. When a leak is found in this area, verify that all six mount bolts around the flange are tight. If any of the mounting bolts are found to be loose, the power divider lockout (PDLO) assembly must be removed and the gasket replaced. If all the bolts are tight, the bolt at the 3:00 position should be removed and cleaned along with the mounting hole with a residue free cleaning spray like contact cleaner.

On some MACK CHU, CXU, GU, and TD truck models built between 04/31/2008 and 11/30/2015, the solenoid valve for the grade gripper feature is prone to internal contamination in harsh environments. The internal contamination of the solenoid valve is caused by the buildup of grime, salt, road debris and other solid contaminants. In some cases, the buildup of solid contaminants caused the solenoid valve to malfunction. A similar malfunction is possible if the solenoid valve is equipped with a vent fitting that freezes over. The malfunction causes the trailer brake circuit to maintain trailer brake pressure after a grade gripper event. Replacement of the existing solenoid valve, elbow, and the addition of a new tube fitting and tube will ensure proper functionality of the grade gripper feature.
