Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

This Service Advisory informs affected owners of model year 2012-2018 J4500 model coaches that the Fan Test Switch, in the remote JBox, in some instances has been accidentally turned on and left on, resulting in the engine running cool and inefficient for extended periods of time and that MCI has developed 2 interim options and that MCI will be cutting in as a standard, a switch cover. This Service Bulletin informs affected customers that customers may experience water migration into the transmission connector and harness on MY 2013 - 2017 MCI J4500 coaches, and that the transmission interface harness wire loom may wear due to stress or movement at the point of existing p-clamps or tyraps; that either condition may result in transmission codes, the PBSS (pushbutton shift selector) not shifting, or transmission failure; and that MCI will remedy the affected coaches at no cost to customers. This Service Bulletin must be implemented in conjunction with MCI Procedure 7-135.

This Service Bulletin informs affected customers that ZF Friedrichshafen AG has released a Service Information bulletin regarding checking axle hubs and wheel heads if an ABS tell-tale lamp is activated during coach operation on MCI J model coaches, and that immediate action is required in such event to prevent an overheat condition.

This Service Bulletin informs affected customers of the maintenance procedures for the Torca Accuseal clamp utilized on the connection between the after-treatment system (selective catalyst reduction device) and tailpipe; that the clamp is a one time usage clamp; and that a new clamp must be utilized after any service or maintenance is performed in which the existing clamp was loosened or removed on MCI D and MCI J model coaches.

This Service Bulletin informs affected customers that the wheelchair lift threshold warning system (TWS) function requires improvement on model year 2012-2013 MCI J4500 model coaches equipped with the Actia multiplex system. The threshold warning system as currently installed will beep, but will not continuously beep when the wheelchair lift platform is below the cabin floor and the acoustic sensors detect a moving person and/or stationary object in the door way of the designated threshold area with the wheelchair lift cabin door open, and that MCI will remedy the affected coaches at no cost to the customers.

This Service Bulletin informs affected customers that MCI was notified by Shaw Development that the diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank cap requires routine cleaning to prevent the potential for crystallization build up at the vent, which may result in potential vacuum issues which could result in collapsing of the tank walls on MCI D model coaches, MCI E4500 model coaches and MCI J4500 model coaches.
Complaint counts are reports filed with NHTSA, not failure rates. A common model collects more of them than a rare one that breaks more often.
