Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

Currently, trucks with work brakes do not cut out the throttle advance when the work brake is released. The driver must wait for the function to complete and throttle to drop below 900 RPMs, allowing the transmission to go into gear, or they must stop the function to get the transmission to go into gear. With this update, the throttle will be cut out without stopping the function and allow the transmission to go into gear for a more efficient operation of the unit.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions
On the Meridian Front Loader, during performance issues such as slow functions, packing light loads, inability to lift heavy cans, it is recommended to inspect the O-rings on the sequencing valves. The sequencing valve O-rings may be experiencing premature failure and may begin to be unable to maintain its seal. These instructions discuss when and how to inspect the O-ring to determine if the O-ring is failing.

The content in this document was previously submitted embedded in the original version of FEL-TSB-032 Meridian Hydraulic Pump CV Drive Shaft Replacement 0217.pdf. This cover prevents damage to surrounding components in the event of a hydraulic pump shaft failure. The initial revision of the cover would develop a crack near the top and bottom flange bend. The cover stays in place when cracking occurs. The replacement cover has an edge to edge bend line with a corner weld to prevent cracking. Cracking covers do not affect the safety of the vehicle chassis.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions
This document was previously submitted and has been updated. CV shafts that provide power to the body hydraulic system may be too short. A too short condition can cause damage to the hydraulic pump shaft which may stop hydraulic flow to refuse body functions. Damaged shafts are retained by two guards and the connection points on the PTO drive and the hydraulic pump which are designed to prevent damage to chassis components. Damaged hydraulic pump shafts do not affect the safety of the vehicle chassis.

SOME HYDRAULIC PUMP CV DRIVE SHAFTS MAY BE TOO SHORT AND CAN BREAK, TWIST, OR DISENGAGE ON ONE END. A HYDRAULIC PUMP DRIVE SHAFT FAILURE AFFECTS REFUSE BODY FUNCTIONS, BUT DOES NOT AFFECT CHASSIS DRIVING FUNCTIONS. THE BULLETIN PROVIDES AN INSPECTION METHOD AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR REPLACING SHAFTS THAT ARE NOT THE CORRECT LENGTH.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions
McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing requires the Meridian Front Loader hydraulic pump CV drive shaft be replaced because the shafts may be too short and are suspect to disengaging. The hydraulic pump CV drive shaft can break or twist. A hydraulic pump CV drive shaft failure will affect hydraulic pump operation which controls refuse body functions and does not affect chassis driving functions. You must replace the hydraulic pump CV drive shaft, even if you have recently replaced it.
