Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing, Inc. has been notified by customers of an issue regarding the power steering system on the Volterra™ ZSL™side loader refuse collection vehicles. McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing, Inc. is working with the steering pump supplier to identify the root cause(s) and a corrective action. A future bulletin will be provided when a corrective action has been identified.

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing provides these instructions for the installation of new bushings for the service cleanout door for all Side Loader refuse vehicles. The new bushings can help provide a tighter seal on the door.
ZSL-IB-005
McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing provides updated Preventive Maintenance schedule and instructions for an initial (within 500 miles or 6 months of service) retorque of the front axle U-bolts to 500 ft.-lbs. and semi-annually or every 12,000 miles (whichever comes first) retorque of the U-bolts to 500 ft.-lbs. The vehicle’s service maintenance manual reflects the same update.

Complaint counts are reports filed with NHTSA, not failure rates. A common model collects more of them than a rare one that breaks more often.
