This is an Advanced Technical Information Notice that was sent to dealers, informing them that a catalytic converter warranty extension will be launched December 19, 2013 for certain 2006-2008 Galant V6, 2006-2008 Eclipse V6, and 2007-2008 Eclipse Spyder V6 registered in the states of California, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont. This warranty extension will also apply to certain 2008 Galant V6, 2008 Eclipse V6, and 2008 Eclipse Spyder V6 registered in the states of Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. The TSB outlining the warranty extension will be available December 19, 2013 on MEDIC and MDL. Notification letters will be sent to owners of affected vehicles, notifying them of the catalytic converter extended warranty.

Due to variations in production, certain exhaust manifold mounted catalytic converters may experience catalyst layer separation on affected vehicles. If this occurs, the MIL will illuminate with DTC P0421 or P0431, "Warm Up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold" stored in the PCM. Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. is extending the catalytic converter warranty only on affected vehicles currently registered in certain states from 8 years / 80,000 miles to 10 years / 120,000 miles.

TSB-13-42A-003

This TSB supercedes TSB-09-42A-015, issued October, 2009, to update affected vehicles, add Outlander Sport and add FAST Key case part numbers. Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) integrated key case and FAST Key Transmitter case repair kits are now available. If the plastic parts of the key are broken or missing, but the key functions properly, use the appropriate service parts kit instead of replacing the entire key assembly. When replacing only the key case, it is not necessary to program immobilizer, RKE and OSS functions. For integrated RKE keys, once the electronic components are transferred to the new case, the key can be cut to the vehicle's key code.
