Daimler Trucks North America has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes built on Freightliner chassis (NHTSA #21V 326) based on Cummins recall (NHTSA # 21E 032). In response, Newmar Corporation is issuing recall NHTSA # 21V 506 and TC # 2021-427. On certain motorhomes, as described in Cummins recall 21E-032, the fuel rail assembly on the engine may develop leaks, which may result in an undetected prolonged diesel fuel spray. A leak involving spraying/misting fuel in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire.

(Spartan Chassis) has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes built on Spartan chassis (NHTSA #21V 319) based on Cummins recall (NHTSA # 21E 032). In response, Newmar Corporation is issuing recall NHTSA # 21V 372 and TC # 2021-303. On certain motorhomes, as described in Cummins recall 21E-032, the fuel rail assembly on the engine may develop leaks, which may result in an undetected prolonged diesel fuel spray. Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety may exist in specific coaches. On certain units, the windshield wiper mechanism may contact the brake light switch. If the brake light switch or wiring is damaged, the brake lights may not illuminate. Non-functioning brake lights may not alert other motorists of the driver’s intentions, increasing the risk of a crash.

Newmar has made a change to the water pump circuit fuse on certain coaches to improve customer experience. In most cases, the 10 amp fuse installed by the factory is sufficient. However, some coaches equipped with a ShurFlo water pump (Newmar part # 127488) blow the 10 amp water pump fuse.

If a customer complains about their satellite, this product improvement bulletin may be helpful. This will only apply to coaches equipped with an HDMI/ CAT6 splitter AND the customer has installed a Geni-type satellite receiver. In this scenario, the customer may have issues trying to select satellite stations that toggle between high definition (HD) and standard definition.

Issue: On certain motorhomes, the latch on the entry door may not engage properly. This may allow the door to open unexpectedly while the vehicle is in transit, increasing the risk of injury.

NHTSA # 18V 438, TC# 2018-349 Issue: After the battery disconnect is turned on, the slideout controller may cause the slideouts to extend or retract without warning. This could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. This condition can only occur with the battery disconnect on and the ignition key in the off/accessory position.

This bulletin was created to inform dealers and techs that an updated linkage is available that provides a remedy for binding linkages to the power actuator. This issue often creates difficulty when locking or unlocking the compartment door using the key and is only relevant on 2016 to early 2019 model year coaches equipped with power baggage locks.

On certain motorhomes, there may be loose electrical connections in the breaker box that were not properly tightened. A loose power connection may cause a buildup of heat at the connection, potentially increasing the risk of overheating or a fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

On 2017 and 2018 Ventana and Dutch Star coaches with the 4310 floorplan and 2017 Mountain Aire and London Aire coaches with the 4525 floorplan equipped with a 85,000 BTU Oasis NES hydronic heating system, the hydronic heating system fuse and wiring may be undersized. Issue: The fuse may blow due to overload.

Newmar Corporation has decided that certain 2017-2018 Ventana, Ventana LE, and Dutch Star motorhomes built on Freightliner Chassis fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, ?Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.? On certain motorhomes, if the headlight high beams are activated, only the high beam bulbs illuminate. The intention of the high beam function on the affected coaches is to have both the high beam and low beam bulbs illuminate together. Issue: Driving a motorhome at night without the required illumination of the road may reduce the driver?s visibility, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.

Issue: On certain motorhomes, there may be a loose electrical connection to the automatic transfer switch (ATS) that was not properly tightened. If the power connection is loose, it may result in a buildup of heat at the connection, which may increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

If the coach's HWH leveling system has intermittent issues when operating, check for corrosion or loose mounting bolts. Torque the mounting bolts (if needed) to 30 ft. pounds. A ground cable may also be installed to improve the overall grounding of the HWH pump assembly.

Riverpark, Inc. has recently discovered an issue with some of their SD cards that may make the dash radio freeze, run slow, and/or reboot. After testing, Riverpark believes that some of the Kingston SD cards were defective from the factory. In response to their findings, Newmar Corporation is issuing TSB 487 to inform dealers and service personnel of the defective parts. Issue: When the SD card plays in the Xite Infotainment Center, it loses communication after a period of time (typically 7-10 minutes). The system becomes sluggish and tries to re-boot continuously. This is partly due to the inability to read the cards information quickly enough, causing the radio?s CPU to ?max out,? resulting in the previously described freezing and rebooting symptoms.

On certain motorhomes, the driver and passenger power night shades may be operated using the remote when the ignition is in the ON position. If the ignition is on and the remote night shade button is pressed, the night shades may lower, blocking the side views from the driver. This may increase the risk of a crash, which may cause injury and/or property damage.

Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation, has initiated Field Service Campaign SF536A to modify specific Freightliner Custom Chassis X-line motorhome and shuttle bus chassis equipped with multiplex wiper controls, manufactured March 21, 2016, through January 2, 2017. In response, Newmar Corporation published TSB 485 to inform our dealers and customers. Issue: On some vehicles, the windshield wiper intermittent delay function is incorrectly set to a fixed delay.

Spartan Motors USA, Inc. has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes built on Spartan chassis. In response, Newmar Corporation is publishing the following recall: NHTSA #17V 195 TC #2017-162. Issue: On certain motorhomes, the ball joints on the independent front suspension may be loose. If not detected, the loose ball joints could separate over time. This could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
