Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

If there is no washer on the nut side of the bolt, add a flat washer. Reinstall and torque all 5/16â bolts to 19 ft. lbs. and all 3/8â bolts to 33 ft. lbs.

Issue: On certain coaches, a check valve is missing on the auxiliary air tank, causing the tag axle steer tires to remain in a turned position when stopping the vehicle during a turn and shifting into reverse. In addition, some of these vehicles also require an air line retrofit.

Issue: Certain motorhomes may have a defective refrigerator travel latch that may activate without the user?s knowledge when the doors are closed. If the latch locks the door shut, the refrigerator cannot be opened from the inside. This could potentially cause entrapment/injury to an individual. This only applies to French door style refrigerators with a specific travel latch. Attached is a list of specific coaches affected.

NHTSA# 15V 803, TC# 2015- 562 Issue: On certain motorhomes, the cargo door lock actuator on the baggage doors could overheat due to a faulty keyless entry module configuration. If operated with a battery voltage below 9.5 VDC, the actuator could chatter, overheat and melt along with a portion of the inner door material which would increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

Spartan Motors has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes built on Spartan chassis. In response, Newmar is issuing recall NHTSA# 17v 378 and TC#2017-304. On certain motorhomes, the retaining ring on the starter shaft may break without warning, allowing the shaft to extend beyond the starter motor. The motor may continue to be energized and overheat, or eventually be subjected to an over-current condition. Overheating or an over-current condition may increase the risk of a fire.

This PIB has been created to inform Newmar dealers that power lock actuators for baggage doors (part # 66214 and part # 123822) are now obsolete. The new part (# 024193) is a replacement for both of the obsolete parts and will mount the same way. The wire connections have changed from a plug to two barrel connectors. The barrel connectors may be used or cut off to install with spade terminals, which allows wires to be reversed easily.

If the ride height of the suspension is less than specified ride height, negative impact to roll steer could occur. Spartan Motors Chassis, Inc. has released a Recall Spartan NHTSA # 15V-388, TC # 2015 283. Certain 2015- 2016 model units on Spartan K3 Chassis are affected. Fasteners that attach the stay rod to the rear drive axle may not have been installed with thread locker or tightened in the correct sequence. The fasteners may loosen and the stay rod could disconnect from the rear drive axle allowing the rear axle to move freely in certain directions. This could cause loss of vehicle control which may increase the risk of a crash. The loosening of the fasteners may occur without warning.
