Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

If the coach's HWH leveling system has intermittent issues when operating, check for corrosion or loose mounting bolts. Torque the mounting bolts (if needed) to 30 ft. pounds. A ground cable may also be installed to improve the overall grounding of the HWH pump assembly.

Mailing second notice on not corrected customer letters on NHTSA Recall: Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes. Issue: Certain motorhomes may have a defective refrigerator travel latch that may activate without the user?s knowledge when the doors are closed. If the latch locks the door shut, the refrigerator cannot be opened from the inside. This could potentially cause entrapment/injury to an individual. This only applies to French door style refrigerators with a specific travel latch. Attached is a list of specific coaches affected.

This is in response to notification from Spartan Motors, Inc. attached is a list of specific unit numbers. Issue: On certain motorhomes, equipped with IFS2000 model front suspension, the shaft of the ball joint on the steering relay rod may contact the ABS valve, if the valve is an incorrect orientation and the steering relay rod is in the full forward position during full right or left turns.

Spartan Motors has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes built on Spartan chassis. In response, Newmar is issuing recall NHTSA# 17v 378 and TC#2017-304. On certain motorhomes, the retaining ring on the starter shaft may break without warning, allowing the shaft to extend beyond the starter motor. The motor may continue to be energized and overheat, or eventually be subjected to an over-current condition. Overheating or an over-current condition may increase the risk of a fire.

Spartan Motors USA, Inc. has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes built on Spartan chassis. In response, Newmar Corporation is publishing the following recall: NHTSA #17V 195 TC #2017-162. Issue: On certain motorhomes, the ball joints on the independent front suspension may be loose. If not detected, the loose ball joints could separate over time. This could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific 2012 and 2013 Essex and 2012 King Aire motorhomes. This is in response to notification from Spartan Motors, Inc. NHTSA# 15V 727 TC# 2015-363 Attached is a list of specific unit numbers affected. A defect relating to the modulator valves making contact with the IFS relay rod may exist in certain vehicles equipped with an IFS2000 model front suspension. When the steering wheel is turned, the relay rod may interfere with the ABS modulator valve if the valve is in an incorrect orientation and the steering relay rod is in the full forward position during full right or left turns. If enough contact is made with the ABS modulator valve, the valve may fracture. This may result in air not being applied to the affected side during a braking event. This may reduce stopping distance of the vehicle or cause the vehicle to pull to one side, which could result in a vehicle crash.

Spartan Motors USA, Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain chassis. Newmar has built on these chassis. Attached is the list of specific units. Newmar NHTSA#15v 585, TCA# 2015-404 This only applies to the Mountain Master and K3 chassis specified by Spartan. If the exhaust tube tears, hot exhaust gas could blow against other components or material. If exhaust gas temperatures exceed the flash point of other material or components, it could increase the risk of fire. This may occur without warning.

This PIB has been created to inform Newmar dealers that power lock actuators for baggage doors (part # 66214 and part # 123822) are now obsolete. The new part (# 024193) is a replacement for both of the obsolete parts and will mount the same way. The wire connections have changed from a plug to two barrel connectors. The barrel connectors may be used or cut off to install with spade terminals, which allows wires to be reversed easily.
