If the coach's HWH leveling system has intermittent issues when operating, check for corrosion or loose mounting bolts. Torque the mounting bolts (if needed) to 30 ft. pounds. A ground cable may also be installed to improve the overall grounding of the HWH pump assembly.

Mailing second notice on not corrected customer letters on NHTSA Recall: Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes. Issue: Certain motorhomes may have a defective refrigerator travel latch that may activate without the user?s knowledge when the doors are closed. If the latch locks the door shut, the refrigerator cannot be opened from the inside. This could potentially cause entrapment/injury to an individual. This only applies to French door style refrigerators with a specific travel latch. Attached is a list of specific coaches affected.

Spartan Motors has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes built on Spartan chassis. In response, Newmar is issuing recall NHTSA# 17v 378 and TC#2017-304. On certain motorhomes, the retaining ring on the starter shaft may break without warning, allowing the shaft to extend beyond the starter motor. The motor may continue to be energized and overheat, or eventually be subjected to an over-current condition. Overheating or an over-current condition may increase the risk of a fire.

Spartan Motors USA, Inc. has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes built on Spartan chassis. In response, Newmar Corporation is publishing the following recall: NHTSA #17V 195 TC #2017-162. Issue: On certain motorhomes, the ball joints on the independent front suspension may be loose. If not detected, the loose ball joints could separate over time. This could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

SPARTAN MOTORS HAS DECIDED THAT A DEFECT WHICH RELATES TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY EXISTS IN SPECIFIC MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON SPARTAN CHASSIS AND IN RESPONSE NEWMAR IS PUBLISHING RECALL NHTSA# 16V 501 TC# 2016-342. ON CERTAIN MOTORHOMES, THE EXHAUST FLEX TUBE MAY BE MISALIGNED CAUSING THE POTENTIAL FOR THE FLEX TUBE TO TEAR. IF THE EXHAUST TUBE TEARS, HOT EXHAUST GAS COULD BLOW AGAINST OTHER COMPONENTS OR MATERIALS. IF EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURES EXCEED THE FLASH POINT OF OTHER MATERIAL OR COMPONENTS, IT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF FIRE CAUSING INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. THIS MAY OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING.

THIS RECALL IS THE RESULT OF INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY DAIMLER TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA LLC. NHTSA#16V 252, TC#2016-205 ON CERTAIN FREIGHTLINER BRAND MOTORHOME CHASSIS BUILT WITH A HEAVIER ADJUSTABLE FOOT PEDAL, THE BRAKE ACTIVATION SIGNAL TO CERTAIN TOWED DEVICES MAY NOT DEACTIVATE WHEN THE MOTORHOME SERVICE BRAKES ARE RELEASED. IF THE BRAKE ACTIVATION SIGNAL TO A TOWED DEVICE REMAINS ACTIVE WHEN THE MOTORHOME CHASSIS SERVICE BRAKES ARE RELEASED, THE BRAKES ON A TOWED DEVICE MAY REMAIN ENGAGED DEPENDING ON THE BRAKE CONFIGURATION OF THE TRAILER. A TOWED DEVICE WITH INCORRECTLY OPERATING BRAKES COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

This is in response to notification from Spartan Chassis Inc. that certain chassis manufactured for Newmar may be affected. Steering linkage castlenuts may be loose, which may allow the steering linkage to become loose without warning. If the steering linkage separates from the bell cranks, loss of vehicle control could occur and possibly result in a crash.Spartan Chassis has provided a detailed list of affected units. Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

This PIB has been created to inform Newmar dealers that power lock actuators for baggage doors (part # 66214 and part # 123822) are now obsolete. The new part (# 024193) is a replacement for both of the obsolete parts and will mount the same way. The wire connections have changed from a plug to two barrel connectors. The barrel connectors may be used or cut off to install with spade terminals, which allows wires to be reversed easily.

Certain Newmar units are equipped with Automotion shades. Attached is information you will need. This will apply when replacing the (old) 5 wire shade motors or changing complete shade when existing (old) shade is 5 wire and new shade motors are 3 wire. When installing the new 3 wire shades or motors you will need a Programmer. Instructions for the Programmer are included.

Following notification from Spartan Motors Inc., Newmar has determined that a potential hazard exists in certain motor homes. On certain vehicles equipped with a Wabco quick release with double check valves, used to control park/spring brake application, the valve may leak internally. This could cause unintended partial or full park/spring brake application, which could affect service brake function and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
