Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Check for proper torque of all mounting bolts on all electric slideout motors. If any bolt is under- torqued, remove the bolt, and add blue LOCTITE® thread sealant to the bolt threads. If there is no washer on the nut side of the bolt, add a flat washer. Reinstall and torque all 5/16” bolts to 19 ft. lbs. and all 3/8” bolts to 33 ft. lbs.

Newmar has made a change to the water pump circuit fuse on certain coaches to improve customer experience. In most cases, the 10 amp fuse installed by the factory is sufficient. However, some coaches equipped with a ShurFlo water pump (Newmar part # 127488) blow the 10 amp water pump fuse.

If the coach's HWH leveling system has intermittent issues when operating, check for corrosion or loose mounting bolts. Torque the mounting bolts (if needed) to 30 ft. pounds. A ground cable may also be installed to improve the overall grounding of the HWH pump assembly.

Mailing second notice on not corrected customer letters on NHTSA Recall: Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes. Issue: Certain motorhomes may have a defective refrigerator travel latch that may activate without the user?s knowledge when the doors are closed. If the latch locks the door shut, the refrigerator cannot be opened from the inside. This could potentially cause entrapment/injury to an individual. This only applies to French door style refrigerators with a specific travel latch. Attached is a list of specific coaches affected.

Spartan Motors has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes built on Spartan chassis. In response, Newmar is issuing recall NHTSA# 17v 378 and TC#2017-304. On certain motorhomes, the retaining ring on the starter shaft may break without warning, allowing the shaft to extend beyond the starter motor. The motor may continue to be energized and overheat, or eventually be subjected to an over-current condition. Overheating or an over-current condition may increase the risk of a fire.

Spartan Motors USA, Inc. has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes built on Spartan chassis. In response, Newmar Corporation is publishing the following recall: NHTSA #17V 195 TC #2017-162. Issue: On certain motorhomes, the ball joints on the independent front suspension may be loose. If not detected, the loose ball joints could separate over time. This could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

ON CERTAIN MOTORHOMES, THE EXHAUST FLEX TUBE MAY BE MISALIGNED CAUSING THE POTENTIAL FOR THE FLEX TUBE TO TEAR. IF THE EXHAUST TUBE TEARS, HOT EXHAUST GAS COULD BLOW AGAINST OTHER COMPONENTS OR MATERIALS. IF EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURES EXCEED THE FLASH POINT OF OTHER MATERIAL OR COMPONENTS, IT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF FIRE CAUSING INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. THIS MAY OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING.

THIS RECALL IS THE RESULT OF INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY DAIMLER TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA LLC. NHTSA#16V 252, TC#2016-205 ON CERTAIN FREIGHTLINER BRAND MOTORHOME CHASSIS BUILT WITH A HEAVIER ADJUSTABLE FOOT PEDAL, THE BRAKE ACTIVATION SIGNAL TO CERTAIN TOWED DEVICES MAY NOT DEACTIVATE WHEN THE MOTORHOME SERVICE BRAKES ARE RELEASED. IF THE BRAKE ACTIVATION SIGNAL TO A TOWED DEVICE REMAINS ACTIVE WHEN THE MOTORHOME CHASSIS SERVICE BRAKES ARE RELEASED, THE BRAKES ON A TOWED DEVICE MAY REMAIN ENGAGED DEPENDING ON THE BRAKE CONFIGURATION OF THE TRAILER. A TOWED DEVICE WITH INCORRECTLY OPERATING BRAKES COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

THIS TSB IS CREATED TO NOTIFY DEALERS OF A CHANGE ITC MADE TO THE LEAD SOLDER IN THE RECESSED LIGHTING TO MAKE IT MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY. THIS CHANGE CAUSED AN ISSUE IN ITC’S LED RECESSED LIGHTS WITH A MANUFACTURED DATE CODES IN THE RANGE OF NOVEMBER 2014 TO MARCH 2015. LIGHTS MAY PREMATURELY QUIT WORKING OR ONLY HAVE A PORTION OF LED’S WORKING WITHIN EACH LIGHT FIXTURE.

This PIB has been created to inform Newmar dealers that power lock actuators for baggage doors (part # 66214 and part # 123822) are now obsolete. The new part (# 024193) is a replacement for both of the obsolete parts and will mount the same way. The wire connections have changed from a plug to two barrel connectors. The barrel connectors may be used or cut off to install with spade terminals, which allows wires to be reversed easily.

Spartan Motors Chassis, Inc. has decided a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain motor home chassis. Newmar has provided the list of coaches affected by this Spartan Recall. NHTSA # 15V 492 TC# 2015-345. The control module for the air suspension may experience a loss of power resulting in the air suspension not being able to achieve ride height. If the ride height of the suspension is less than specified ride height, negative impact to roll steer could occur. This could cause the vehicle to be difficult to control and increase the risk of a crash. This could occur without warning.

Spartan Motors Chassis, Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain K3 model motor home chassis equipped with a tag axle suspension supplied by Reyco Granning. Issue: The tag axle suspension hangers may move allowing the tag axle assembly to shift off center without warning. Movement of the tag axle from center may result in poor vehicle handling. Spartan Motors Chassis, Inc. has released a Recall Spartan NHTSA # 15V-388, TC # 2015 283. Certain 2015- 2016 model units on Spartan K3 Chassis are affected. Fasteners that attach the stay rod to the rear drive axle may not have been installed with thread locker or tightened in the correct sequence. The fasteners may loosen and the stay rod could disconnect from the rear drive axle allowing the rear axle to move freely in certain directions. This could cause loss of vehicle control which may increase the risk of a crash. The loosening of the fasteners may occur without warning.

This will apply when replacing the (old) 5 wire shade motors or changing complete shade when existing (old) shade is 5 wire and new shade motors are 3 wire. When installing the new 3 wire shades or motors you will need a Programmer. Instructions for the Programmer are included.

Xite Solutions TSB # 03-2015-001 The XSG2NA-X2 In Dash Infotainment Radio may enter into a reset cycle do to a possible high temperature protection. To identify the condition and affected product, the display screen will briefly turn white then begin to restart. This cycle may continue until temperatures lower in the dash cavity space. Note The temperatures of the head unit do not pose further risk to damage of the device, vehicle or components.
