KIB push-button compartment door lock modules on 2018 King Aire coaches may have a software glitch that may cause some modules to fail to automatically acquire their network ID when installed. When operating a compartment door push button, this scenario could potentially cause two different doors to open instead of just one. The ID issue should have only occurred when the module was installed for the first time during production. Coaches configured correctly during production (and operational when shipped) will continue to operate correctly and do not need updated. Coaches built after production unit #530451 have had the software update completed and should not have any ID configuration issues during the installation process.

TSB 490

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Newmar has decided to install an override switch for the HWH step to provide a way to operate the step from inside the coach in the event of a sensor or door switch failure. In the event of a step failure, the person(s) inside the coach would have a large gap between the door threshold and the ground. The person(s) may have to exit via the large gap or the emergency exit door to get out of the coach.

TSB 498

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Newmar has decided to incorporate a system reset switch for coaches equipped with HWH hydraulic entrance steps. The switch has been added to the front overhead cabinet during production on later 2018 models. If the HWH system fails to operate the pump assembly when using the leveling system touchpad, slideout switches, or the entrance step, this reset switch will provide the coach owner with a more convenient location for resetting the HWH system. This will eliminate the need to pull the F-11 fuse or exit the coach to turn off the chassis disconnect in the event of a system lockout. Issue: In the event of a step failure, the person(s) inside the coach would have a large gap between the door threshold and the ground. The person(s) may have to exit via the large gap or the emergency exit door to get out of the coach.

TSB 500

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Newmar has determined that the push button switches used during early production of the 2018 King Aire coaches have experienced a high failure rate in the field. Some coaches may have been shipped without the change being performed. This is not a safety issue; however, making the updates will enhance the coach?s electrical performance when operating high amperage loads.

RSB487

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Riverpark, Inc. has recently discovered an issue with some of their SD cards that may make the dash radio freeze, run slow, and/or reboot. After testing, Riverpark believes that some of the Kingston SD cards were defective from the factory. In response to their findings, Newmar Corporation is issuing TSB 487 to inform dealers and service personnel of the defective parts. Issue: When the SD card plays in the Xite Infotainment Center, it loses communication after a period of time (typically 7-10 minutes). The system becomes sluggish and tries to re-boot continuously. This is partly due to the inability to read the cards information quickly enough, causing the radio?s CPU to ?max out,? resulting in the previously described freezing and rebooting symptoms.

RSB484

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Spartan Motors has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes built on Spartan chassis. In response, Newmar is issuing recall NHTSA # 17v 413. Issue: On certain motorhomes, the drive gear on the fuel pump may spin loose on the drive shaft, resulting in loss of pumping function. If this occurs, the engine may stall without warning and cannot be restarted. An unexpected engine stall without the ability to restart may increase the risk of a crash.

RSB 477

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Spartan Motors USA, Inc. has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes built on Spartan chassis. In response, Newmar Corporation is publishing the following recall: NHTSA #17V 195 TC #2017-162. Issue: On certain motorhomes, the ball joints on the independent front suspension may be loose. If not detected, the loose ball joints could separate over time. This could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
