Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.
TSB466Amended
Check for proper torque of all mounting bolts on all electric slideout motors. If any bolt is under- torqued, remove the bolt, and add blue LOCTITE® thread sealant to the bolt threads. If there is no washer on the nut side of the bolt, add a flat washer. Reinstall and torque all 5/16â bolts to 19 ft. lbs. and all 3/8â bolts to 33 ft. lbs.

Some coaches equipped with both the SilverLeaf system and a TRC transfer switch (model 40350RVC-40350RVC3) may receive a warning on the SilverLeaf touchscreen that reads âtransfer switch 0-0 failure unknown.â This is a false warning caused by the TRC transfer switch program code.

Newmar has made a change to the water pump circuit fuse on certain coaches to improve customer experience. In most cases, the 10 amp fuse installed by the factory is sufficient. However, some coaches equipped with a ShurFlo water pump (Newmar part # 127488) blow the 10 amp water pump fuse.

This bulletin was created to inform dealers and techs that an updated linkage is available that provides a remedy for binding linkages to the power actuator. This issue often creates difficulty when locking or unlocking the compartment door using the key and is only relevant on 2016 to early 2019 model year coaches equipped with power baggage locks.

Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes. Issue: On certain motorhomes, there may be a loose electrical connection to the automatic transfer switch (ATS) that was not properly tightened. If the power connection is loose, it may result in a buildup of heat at the connection, which may increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property.

Daimler Trucks North America LLC, on behalf of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation, has issued field service campaign SF546AB. In response, Newmar is publishing PIB 495. Issue: On certain coaches, a check valve is missing on the auxiliary air tank, causing the tag axle steer tires to remain in a turned position when stopping the vehicle during a turn and shifting into reverse. In addition, some of these vehicles also require an air line retrofit.

If the coach's HWH leveling system has intermittent issues when operating, check for corrosion or loose mounting bolts. Torque the mounting bolts (if needed) to 30 ft. pounds. A ground cable may also be installed to improve the overall grounding of the HWH pump assembly.

Daimler Trucks North America has issued field service campaign SF543A. In response, Newmar is publishing TSB 493. Issue: On specific vehicles equipped with Stoneridge light bar control units (LBCU), the instrument panel odometer value may reset and no longer match the engine ECU odometer value.

Daimler Trucks North America has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes built on Freightliner chassis (NHTSA# 17V 451). In response, Newmar has filed recall NHTSA# 17V 497 and TC# 2017-389. Issue: On certain motorhomes built on Freightliner XCR chassis, a battery cable mounting bracket may not have been installed at the plant per installation drawings. If improperly routed and clipped, the battery cable may be in close proximity to the frame rail. This may cause rubbing or shorting of the cable and may increase the risk of a fire.

Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation, has initiated Field Service Campaign SF536A to modify specific Freightliner Custom Chassis X-line motorhome and shuttle bus chassis equipped with multiplex wiper controls, manufactured March 21, 2016, through January 2, 2017. In response, Newmar Corporation published TSB 485 to inform our dealers and customers. Issue: On some vehicles, the windshield wiper intermittent delay function is incorrectly set to a fixed delay.

Spartan Motors USA, Inc. has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes built on Spartan chassis. In response, Newmar Corporation is publishing the following recall: NHTSA #17V 195 TC #2017-162. Issue: On certain motorhomes, the ball joints on the independent front suspension may be loose. If not detected, the loose ball joints could separate over time. This could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

DAIMLER TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA HAS DECIDED THAT A DEFECT WHICH RELATES TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY EXISTS IN SPECIFIC MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON FREIGHTLINER CHASSIS AND IN RESPONSE NEWMAR IS PUBLISHING RECALL NHTSA# 16V 478 TC# 2016-325. ON CERTAIN MOTORHOMES, WHEN THE THROTTLE PEDAL IS RELEASED, THE ASSOCIATED PEDAL SENSOR MAY NOT RETURN TO ZERO, CAUSING THE ENGINE BRAKE TO POTENTIALLY NOT ACTIVATE AS EXPECTED. A SUDDEN LOSS OF AN ENGINE BRAKE, WITHOUT WARNING ON A MOTORHOME, MAY LEAD TO A REDUCED BRAKE CAPACITY POTENTIALLY INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.

FLEXSTEEL HAS INFORMED NEWMAR CORPORATION THAT A KIT NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED ON BI-FOLD PULL OUT SOFA SLEEPERS (SSCS) TO PREVENT RETENTION CABLES FROM GETTING PINCHED IN THE HINGE. IF A CABLE GETS PINCHED IN THE HINGE, DAMAGE MAY OCCUR TO THE SOFA CABLE. IF BOTH CABLES ARE DETACHED, BROKEN, OR DEFECTIVE, AND ONLY ONE PERSON IS ON THE BED LYING CLOSEST TO THE SOFA BACK/WALL OF THE COACH, THE UNIT MAY PIVOT AND POTENTIALLY PLACE THE OCCUPANT ON THE FLOOR OR BETWEEN THE BED AND THE BACK OF THE SOFA.

THIS TSB IS CREATED TO NOTIFY DEALERS OF A CHANGE ITC MADE TO THE LEAD SOLDER IN THE RECESSED LIGHTING TO MAKE IT MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY. THIS CHANGE CAUSED AN ISSUE IN ITCS LED RECESSED LIGHTS WITH A MANUFACTURED DATE CODES IN THE RANGE OF NOVEMBER 2014 TO MARCH 2015. LIGHTS MAY PREMATURELY QUIT WORKING OR ONLY HAVE A PORTION OF LEDS WORKING WITHIN EACH LIGHT FIXTURE.

NEWMAR HAS DETERMINED THAT A CONDITION EXISTS THAT MAY ALLOW WATER TO ENTER THE COACH FROM THE WHEEL WELL AREA WHILE DRIVING IN WET CONDITIONS. POSSIBLE WATER INTRUSION AROUND THE LIFT CYLINDER ON THE FULL WALL HYDRAULIC SLIDEOUT.

Newmar Corp. has decided some 2016 motorhomes equipped with a HWH Hydraulic Full Wall Slideout may have been shipped with low fluid level in HWH hydraulic system. This TSB only applies to units with a hydraulic Slideout system built prior to 9/14/2015. If there is not enough fluid in the reservoir tank; the HWH slide system (when activated) will draw in air with the fluid and cause uneven pressure on the HWH chain/bracket while opening and closing the slide. This could cause the chain/bracket to loosen over time.

Spartan Motors Chassis, Inc. has decided a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain motor home chassis. Newmar has provided the list of coaches affected by this Spartan Recall. NHTSA # 15V 492 TC# 2015-345. The control module for the air suspension may experience a loss of power resulting in the air suspension not being able to achieve ride height. If the ride height of the suspension is less than specified ride height, negative impact to roll steer could occur. This could cause the vehicle to be difficult to control and increase the risk of a crash. This could occur without warning.

Newmar has determined certain units may have excessive noise in the bedroom when running bedroom ac unit. There are a limited number of coaches since units built after 6/12/15 will not be affected and inventory not shipped were inspected prior to shipment. Issue: Increased noise level in Bedroom from a/c vent. Note: This does not affect the operation of the AC system, just the noise level.
Complaint counts are reports filed with NHTSA, not failure rates. A common model collects more of them than a rare one that breaks more often.
