Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in specific motorhomes built on Freightliner and Ford Chassis. On certain Newmar Class A motorhomes, the wiring under the seats may be incorrectly secured, which may lead to a pinched wire in the seat/slide adjustment mechanism.

Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes. Lippert (Newmar’s window supplier) is recalling Hehr 6400 series window vents (Lippert recall 21E 047) built between 10/01/2018 and 08/13/2020, which were used on various coach models during the affected period. The adhesive that bonds the vented portion of the window may fail. Adhesive failure may cause the vent portion of the window to detach, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes built on Freightliner Chassis (NHTSA 18V 703). In response, Newmar Corporation is releasing recall NHTSA 18V 859 and TC # 2018-669. Issue: On certain motorhomes, the brake caliper mounting bolts may be incorrectly torqued. Insufficiently torqued bolts may not provide adequate clamping force between the brake caliper and brake anchor plate potentially resulting in reduced brake effectiveness. Reduced brake effectiveness could lead to a vehicle crash and/or property damage.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Newmar began using spacers between the Carefree Ascent series slideout topper covers and the mounting surface of the slideout to increase the clearance between the slideout topper cover and the painted slideout trim. If a clearance issue arises on coaches built between 10/9/17 and 9/28/18, measure the topper(s), Contact your Service Accout Manager to obtain authorization and order the correct amount of parts. Refer to the attachment for the work instructions.

In this scenario, the customer may have issues trying to select satellite stations that toggle between high definition (HD) and standard definition.

Issue: On certain motorhomes, the latch on the entry door may not engage properly. This may allow the door to open unexpectedly while the vehicle is in transit, increasing the risk of injury.

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes built on Freightliner Chassis (NHTSA 18V 353). In response, Newmar Corporation is releasing recall NHTSA 18V 505 and TC # 2018-401. Issue: On certain motorhomes equipped with air disc brakes, the brake caliper mounting bolts may be incorrectly torqued. The caliper bolts may loosen, which may lead to the caliper detaching. Insufficiently torqued fasteners may not provide adequate clamping force between the brake caliper and brake anchor plate, potentially resulting in reduced brake effectiveness. This scenario would result in greater stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
