On certain Newmar Class A motorhomes, the wiring under the seats may be incorrectly secured, which may lead to a pinched wire in the seat/slide adjustment mechanism.

Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes. Lippert (Newmarâs window supplier) is recalling Hehr 6400 series window vents (Lippert recall 21E 047) built between 10/01/2018 and 08/13/2020, which were used on various coach models during the affected period. The adhesive that bonds the vented portion of the window may fail. Adhesive failure may cause the vent portion of the window to detach, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Daimler Trucks North America has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes built on Freightliner chassis (NHTSA #21V 326) based on Cummins recall (NHTSA # 21E 032). In response, Newmar Corporation is issuing recall NHTSA # 21V 506 and TC # 2021-427. On certain motorhomes, as described in Cummins recall 21E-032, the fuel rail assembly on the engine may develop leaks, which may result in an undetected prolonged diesel fuel spray. A leak involving spraying/misting fuel in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire.

Daimler Trucks North America LLC has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in specific motorhomes built on Freightliner chassis (NHTSA # 18V 913). On certain motorhomes, the steering and tie rod arm bolts that join the steering and tie rod arm to the knuckle may not have accurate torque specification data. Without torque data, DTNA cannot verify that the bolts are properly torqued to specification. In response, Newmar is releasing recall NHTSA 19V 197.

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motorhomes built on Freightliner Chassis (NHTSA 18V 703). In response, Newmar Corporation is releasing recall NHTSA 18V 859 and TC # 2018-669. Issue: On certain motorhomes, the brake caliper mounting bolts may be incorrectly torqued. Insufficiently torqued bolts may not provide adequate clamping force between the brake caliper and brake anchor plate potentially resulting in reduced brake effectiveness. Reduced brake effectiveness could lead to a vehicle crash and/or property damage.

Newmar has made a change to the water pump circuit fuse on certain coaches to improve customer experience. In most cases, the 10 amp fuse installed by the factory is sufficient. However, some coaches equipped with a ShurFlo water pump (Newmar part # 127488) blow the 10 amp water pump fuse.

This will only apply to coaches equipped with an HDMI/ CAT6 splitter AND the customer has installed a Geni-type satellite receiver. In this scenario, the customer may have issues trying to select satellite stations that toggle between high definition (HD) and standard definition.

In response, Newmar Corporation is releasing recall NHTSA 18V 505 and TC # 2018-401. Issue: On certain motorhomes equipped with air disc brakes, the brake caliper mounting bolts may be incorrectly torqued. The caliper bolts may loosen, which may lead to the caliper detaching. Insufficiently torqued fasteners may not provide adequate clamping force between the brake caliper and brake anchor plate, potentially resulting in reduced brake effectiveness. This scenario would result in greater stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

This bulletin was created to inform dealers and techs that an updated linkage is available that provides a remedy for binding linkages to the power actuator. This issue often creates difficulty when locking or unlocking the compartment door using the key and is only relevant on 2016 to early 2019 model year coaches equipped with power baggage locks.
Complaint counts are reports filed with NHTSA, not failure rates. A common model collects more of them than a rare one that breaks more often.
