Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

12 VOLT BATTERY TESTING FOR IN-SERVICE VEHICLES SERVICE INFORMATION The following Service Information lists NNA procedural recommendations for establishing good connections while performing 12V battery testing. These recommendations are expected to promote uniformity during the connection process, therefore reducing the number of incorrect âTest with DCAâ and âReplaceâ results. HINT: If 12 volt batteries are allowed to discharge for a prolonged period of time, battery life may be drastically reduced. This condition may lead to premature battery replacement and customer dissatisfaction. IMPORTANT: ï· CPX-900 is now an accepted testing tool to use along with or in place of the DSS-5000 ï· CPX-900 operating instructions are found at: https://nissancpx900.midtronics.com/ ï· DSS-5000 operating instructions are found at: https://nissandss5000.midtronics.com/ ï· DCA-8000 is now a required testing tool to be used for all warranty replacement decisions. CVT Warranty Extension In an effort to assure customer satisfaction, demonstrate our confidence in continuously variable transmissions (CVTs), and to address customer concerns including those expressed by customers in the class actions, Nissan will extend the warranty coverage on the CVT. The warranty extension includes the CVT assembly and internal CVT components, gaskets, and seals, CVT control valve body, torque converter, cooler kit (if applicable) and reprogramming of the Transmission Control Module (TCM), on the vehicles listed in this announcement. The warranty is being extended from its original duration of 60 months/60,000 miles to 84 months/84,000 miles (whichever occurs first). Coverage of other vehicle components remains unchanged, and all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of Nissanâs New Vehicle Limited Warranty continue to apply. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. If an owner contacts a dealer with a CVT concern in an owned or leased vehicle, verify warranty coverage for the specific VIN and then inform the customer of any diagnostic charges. NOTE: Some owners may have opted out of the warranty extension by excluding themselves from the class action settlement, thus it is important to check the VIN for each vehicle to verify coverage. 2. Use the appropriate Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) and/or Electronic Service Manual (ESM) to diagnose the root cause of the customer concern and identify the correct repair to resolve the customer concerns. NOTE: Dealers will need to follow the warranty process and obtain pre-approval using the VCAT tool. Please reference WBI/21-002. Control valves and CVT belt and pulley kits do not require pre-authorization for repairs made under warranty if they are within the dealerâs DCAL limit. 3. CVT warranty coverage can be confirmed using the warranty extensions/customer service initiatives page in Service Comm or DBS National Service History.

Halogen Headlamp Class Action Owner Notification Beginning October 25, 2021, current and former owners and lessees of certain 2013-2018 Altimas will receive a postcard from a Settlement Administrator informing them of the terms of a proposed class action that, subject to final court approval, could extend the warranty on the halogen headlamps. The class action lawsuit alleges that 2013-18 Altima models manufactured with halogen headlamps have a defect that causes the internal reflecting surface to delaminate, resulting in dimming of the low beam headlamps. Nissan denies all allegations of wrongdoing and liability but has agreed to this customer service initiative in order to resolve the dispute. Beginning in December 2018, all genuine Nissan replacement parts were manufactured with a new design. The proposed settlement is still subject to final approval by the court presiding over the class action lawsuit. The court will determine if the settlement will be approved at or shortly after a hearing that is scheduled for December 20, 2021. If approved, the warranty extension will become effective 31 days after the approval is granted. Additional communication will be distributed prior to the warranty extension going into effect. To be clear, unless and until the proposed settlement is approved by the presiding court, there is no warranty extension and you should proceed with halogen headlamp-related claims as outlined below in #3 under what dealers should do. The proposed settlement, and the associated potential warranty extension, include many terms and conditions. Rather than attempting to address questions about the proposed settlement terms from customers, it is strongly recommended that you refer customers to the websites and/or telephone numbers listed below so that they can receive information from appropriate sources and to avoid providing incorrect and/or incomplete information.

Engine Control Module (ECM) Reprogram California Voluntary Emissions Service Campaign ***** Campaign Summary***** Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Emissions Service Campaign on approximately 104,221 specific Nissan vehicles identified in Service Comm and currently registered to owners in the state of California to reprogram the Engine Control Module (ECM) in the event that a permanent diagnostic trouble code (P-DTC) for P0448, P0101, P2008, or P0087 is recorded in the ECM. Due to calibration errors on the affected vehicles, the ECM may improperly store a permanent diagnostic trouble code (P-DTC) even though the emissions on-board diagnostic system is functioning properly. As of July 1, 2019 the State of California has implemented a revised Inspection Maintenance (I/M) or âSmog Checkâ test program. Without the software update, the subject vehicles may not pass this Smog Check test in those areas of California where such testing is required under state law. This incident has no effect on the safety, performance, drivability, or fuel consumption of the applicable vehicles. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Emissions Service Campaign using Service Comm or DBS National Service History â Open Campaigns I.D. ï· P9328 â Affected Model Year 2015 ï· P9343 â Affected Model Year 2016 ï· P9345 â Affected Model Year 2017 ï· P9347 â Affected Model Year 2018 ï· P9349 â Affected Model Year 2019 2. CAMPAIGN BULLETIN Engine Control Module (ECM) Reprogram Regional (NV & AZ) Voluntary Service Campaign ***** Campaign Summary***** Nissan is conducting a Regional Voluntary Service Campaign to reprogram the Engine Control Module (ECM) on affected vehicles currently registered in Nevada and Arizona. The current programming may cause the air/fuel ratio to become excessively rich resulting in engine stop under certain high temperature and high altitude conditions. In addition, Nissan is asking dealers to inspect and, if necessary, replace the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve on certain 2013-14 Nissan Sentra vehicles. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Service Campaign using Service Comm or DBS National Service History - Open Campaign I.D. Due to the various models involved and the associated responsible manufacturing location of origin, there are three (3) separate campaign IDs with unique Campaign Bulletins for each model: - PC633 - PM827 - P8325 New vehicles in dealer inventory can be also be identified using DCS (Sales-> Vehicle Inventory, and filter by Open Campaign). - Refer to NPSB 15-460 for additional information NOTE: These campaigns are state-specific and limited to vehicles that are currently registered, or previously registered, in the state of Nevada or Arizona only. 2. Nissan requests dealers repair any affected vehicles in retailer new or pre-owned inventory to ensure customer satisfaction. 3. Dealers should use the appropriate repair bulletin for the applicable model as listed below to correct any vehicles subject to this campaign. 4. Once repaired, dealer should submit a warranty claim and release the vehicle.

ECM Reprogram Voluntary Emissions Service Campaign This bulletin applies only to vehciles equipped with 4 cylinder engine. ***** Campaign Summary***** Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Emissions Service Campaign on approximately 311,675 specific 2016-2017 model year Nissan Altima vehicles equipped with a 2.5L engine. Nissan has discovered that some model year 2016 and 2017 Altima vehicles are equipped with an improperly calibrated Engine Control Module (ECM) that may illuminate a Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) for abnormal Air/Fuel (A/F) sensor output. The cause is a grille shutter calibration issue which may lead to higher than expected A/F sensor temperature, resulting in the MIL for delayed sensor response rate. To correct this condition, Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Emissions Service Campaign to reprogram the Engine Control Module (grille shutter opening logic) free of charge. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Service Campaign using Service Comm I.D. PC514. 2. Dealers are requested to repair any affected vehicles in dealer new or pre-owned inventory to ensure customer satisfaction. 3. Dealers should use NTB16-514 to correct any vehicles subject to this campaign. 4. Once repaired, dealers should submit the claim, using the claims coding provided, and release the vehicle.

VOLUNTARY EMISSIONS SERVICE CAMPAIGN 2016-2017 ALTIMA ENGINE CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAM This bulletin applies only to vehicles equipped with 4-cylinder engines. INTRODUCTION Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Emissions Service Campaign on certain specific model year 2016 - 2017 Altima vehicles to reprogram the Engine Control Module (ECM). The reprogram will affect the operation of the grille shutters and will reduce under hood temperatures which, if not reprogrammed, could lead to a false Malfunction Indicator Lamp in some circumstances. The ECM will be reprogrammed at no charge to customers for parts or labor. IDENTIFICATION NUMBER Nissan has assigned identification number PC514 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communication and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign. DEALER RESPONSIBILITY It is the dealer?' responsibility to check Service Comm for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this voluntary safety recall which for any reason enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in a dealer?s inventory. Federal law requires that new vehicles in dealer inventory which are the subject of a safety recall must be corrected prior to sale. Failure to do so can result in civil penalties by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While federal law applies only to new vehicles, Nissan strongly encourages dealers to correct any used vehicles in their inventory before they are retailed.
