12 VOLT BATTERY TESTING FOR IN-SERVICE VEHICLES SERVICE INFORMATION The following Service Information lists NNA procedural recommendations for establishing good connections while performing 12V battery testing. These recommendations are expected to promote uniformity during the connection process, therefore reducing the number of incorrect âTest with DCAâ and âReplaceâ results. HINT: If 12 volt batteries are allowed to discharge for a prolonged period of time, battery life may be drastically reduced. This condition may lead to premature battery replacement and customer dissatisfaction. DRIVE SHAFT BOOT SERVICE INFORMATION SERVICE INFORMATION If a Drive Shaft (Axle Shaft) Boot on an APPLIED VEHICLE is found to be leaking grease, AND There is no abnormal noise or obvious CV Joint risk due to water intrusion and/or complete grease loss, check for REPAIR KIT-DUST BOOT (CV Joint Boot Kit) availability. ï· If there is a REPAIR KIT-DUST BOOT (CV Joint Boot Kit) available for the vehicle being repaired, do NOT replace the axle. Install a new boot kit following the procedure in the ESM. o Refer to the ESM: TRANSMISSION & DRIVELINE > FRONT AXLE > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > FRONT DRIVE SHAFT BOOT o If the complete axle (drive shaft) is replaced when only a new boot is required, the over-repair may be charged back to the dealer. ï· If there is NOT a REPAIR KIT-DUST BOOT (CV Joint Boot Kit) available for the vehicle being repaired, refer to the ESM for further diagnostic information. PREVENT FRONT AXLE THREAD DAMAGE DURING NUT REMOVAL SERVICE INFORMATION If an Applied Vehicle needs to have a front axle nut removed, for any reason, the staking of the nut into the axle keyway must first be removed. The essential tool (part number # J-52982, Figure 1) required to remove the nut staking, is called out as a âCape Chiselâ in the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), and must be used to prevent thread damage to the axle (see Figure 2 on page 2). ï· The Cape Chisel arrived at dealers in December of 2020. ï· Damaged threads, due to improper removal of the stake placed in the nut, will not be covered by warranty. For information on using the Cape Chisel, refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM): Section TRANSMISSION & DRIVELINE > FRONT AXLE > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > FRONT DRIVE SHAFT > LH/RH.

DTC B12A3-72 FOR FUEL PUMP RELAY STUCK OPEN SERVICE INFORMATION DTC B12A3-72 (Fuel Pump Relay Stuck Open) may be stored when the IPDM monitor circuit internally sees 0V to ground at pin #46. This is caused by an internal short to ground in the IPDM or one of the IPDM fuses listed below is open. If B12A3-72 is current or reoccurs after erasing DTCs, inspect the model specific fuse first. KICKS; NO START/DRIVABILITY ISSUES, BATTERY LIGHT ON, AND/OR MIL ON DURING FREEZING TEMPERATURES IF YOU CONFIRM One or a combination of the following during temperatures below -10°C/14°F and ice is found inside the PCV hose or PCV valve: ï· - The engine hesitates or stops running. ï· - The starter cranks the engine normally but the engine will not start. ï· - The MIL is ON with DTC P2004 (TUMBLE CONT/V) and/or P0101 (MAF SEN/CIRCUIT-B1). ï· - The battery light is ON. ï - The engine oil level gauge (dipstick) is backed out of the oil level gauge guide (dipstick tube) and oil is found on the generator (alternator). ï· - The battery voltage is too low to start the engine. ACTION Replace and install the parts listed in PARTS INFORMATION on page 6. ï· - For replacement and installation details, see SERVICE PROCEDURE on page 3.

Disconnect the main power harness connector from the IPDM (E16 for Altima and E42 for Kicks and Versa Sedan). ï· - See Figure 1, Figure 2 and Figure 3 on the next page for IPDM main power harness connector locations. 2. Wait at least 20 seconds. 3. Reconnect the main power harness connector to the IPDM. 4. Confirm that the DTC is now past, and then erase the DTC. If the DTC will not erase, refer to the Electronic Service Manual for additional diagnostic information.

FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WILL NOT EXTEND FROM STOWED POSITION SERVICE INFORMATION If you confirm the front passenger seat belt will not extend from the stowed position while the seat belt adjuster is in the top most position (see Figure 1 on page 2): 1. Move the seat belt adjuster down one notch (see Figure 2 on page 2). 2. Extend the seat belt fully, allow it to retract, and extend again to confirm the issue is resolved. 3. Inform the customer that lowering the adjuster from the top most position will resolve this issue, should it occur again. NOTE: If the seat belt is locked and will not extend at any height adjustment setting, the seat belt may need to be replaced. NISSAN; DIAGNOSIS INFORMATION FOR DTC P161D SERVICE INFORMATION When key registration is unsuccessful after BCM replacement, P161D (Immobilizer) will set when the ignition is turned on. Possible causes - Improper key registration - Defective BCM (Vehicles with Intelligent Key only) - EPS control unit (Vehicles with mechanical key only) - Intelligent Key unit (Vehicles with mechanical key only) Trouble Diagnosis NOTE: If DTC B2196-52 is stored with P161D, perform the diagnosis procedure for DTC B2196-52 first. - Before replacing the BCM, confirm that the keys were programmed correctly by ensuring the vehicle will start and that the lock/unlock buttons function normally. - If any keys do not function normally, re-register all of the keys. - After re-registering all of the keys, reconfirm each key's function. - If OK, erase the code to complete the repair. - If NG, diagnose the Key, BCM and/or EPS control unit per the ESM.

Rear Sonar Dealer Inventory *****Dealer Announcement***** Nissan is conducting a quality action to rewire the black and blue wires in the male/female connector of the T-Harness on 1,311 specific 2018 Kicks vehicles identified in Service Comm. Due to a manufacturing issue that has since been corrected, the T-Harness wires may be reversed which may cause the rear sonar accessory to be inoperable when the headlamps are on. Affected vehicles are not subject to stop sale and are either currently in dealer inventory or assigned and in transit to the dealer. Nissan requests dealers to complete this repair prior to sale to ensure customer satisfaction. *****What Dealers Should Do***** PLEASE FOLLOW THE ATTACHED REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Verify if vehicles are affected by this quality action using Service Comm or DBS National Service History ? Open Campaigns I.D.
