12 VOLT BATTERY TESTING FOR IN-SERVICE VEHICLES SERVICE INFORMATION The following Service Information lists NNA procedural recommendations for establishing good connections while performing 12V battery testing. These recommendations are expected to promote uniformity during the connection process, therefore reducing the number of incorrect âTest with DCAâ and âReplaceâ results. HINT: If 12 volt batteries are allowed to discharge for a prolonged period of time, battery life may be drastically reduced. This condition may lead to premature battery replacement and customer dissatisfaction. Brake Fluid Flush Voluntary Service Campaign Dealer Announcement: Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign to inspect and, if necessary, replace the Antilock Braking System (ABS) actuator on 320,616 specific model year 2010-2014 Nissan Murano, 2011-2014 Murano CrossCabriolet, and 2011-2015 Quest vehicles identified in Service Comm. All affected vehicles will have the brake fluid replaced (DOT3 to DOT4 fluid). Dealers will inspect the ABS actuator using Consult. If needed, the ABS actuator will be replaced. An ownerâs manual insert will be provided to customers with instruction to use DOT4 brake fluid to prevent the subject condition from reoccurring, and the brake fluid reservoir cap will be changed. A potential chemical reaction between the valve surface coating (Chromate layer) and the DOT3 brake fluid may cause a Gel to form around the normally closed (âNCâ) valve. In some cases, it can cause the NC valve to be stuck open. The NC valve inside the ABS actuator may stick open and direct additional brake fluid flow to a reservoir inside the ABS actuator. As a result, the brake fluid pressure may fluctuate and the customer may experience increased brake pedal travel. Affected vehicles are not subject to stop sale. What Dealers Should Do: 1.Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Service Campaign using Service Comm or DBS National Service History â Open Campaigns I.D. P0A08. ï§Refer to NPSB15-460 for additional information 2.Dealers are requested to remedy any affected vehicles in dealer new or pre-owned inventory to ensure customer satisfaction. 3.Dealers should use NTB21-047 to correct any vehicles subject to this campaign. â¢All inspections should have a technician completed form in ASIST. ABNORMAL NOISE FROM FRONT ENGINE MOUNT SERVICE INFORMATION A two-piece design front engine mount is currently being used for the Applied Vehicles listed. A single thunk noise may be heard during the first few accelerations of the day from this type of mount, and is considered normal operation. The mount has also been designed with built-in free play that is normal. Under normal driving conditions: - A thunk noise may be heard during the first few accelerations of the day, And - Does not occur again, or at any other time. DO NOT REPLACE THE MOUNT: - If it has free play or a ?single event? thunk sound during the first few accelerations of the day. This is considered a normal characteristic of this type of engine mount. - Allowable free play (vertical movement) is 5 mm. - If a shift shock condition is present when shifting from Park into gear or between any combination of gears. This condition is due to transmission line pressure and not movement of the mount. - If a whistle type noise is heard. This is caused by a disconnected vacuum line. NOTE: Refer to the appropriate section of the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) related to transaxles for further diagnostic information on shift shock. Warranty claims for front engine mount replacement due to a whistle noise or a mount that has 5 mm or less free play will be denied.

SERVICE INFORMATION Temporary tire Flat Spotting is common on New Dealer In-Stock vehicles that have not been occasionally moved. Flat Spotting can occur after the vehicle has been parked (not moved) for a few days, or longer. In most cases it is temporary. In extreme cases it can be permanent. Vehicles should be moved every 30 days, in one direction only, enough to rotate the tires 90° (see Figure 1). Moving vehicles as shown will prevent tire Flat Spotting. SERVICE INFORMATION Occasionally customers may notice water vapor or fog in the headlamps. The information, illustrations, and flow chart in this bulletin are provided to help you in determining if an incident for water/condensation in the headlamps is normal or not. Nissan?s new vehicle limited warranty does not cover physically damaged (cracked or broken) headlamps. All current headlamp assemblies are vented to the atmosphere (not sealed). - This is necessary to allow for expansion and contraction of air from temperature "variations" (warmer or colder) without damage to the headlamp. - Moisture in the air sometimes "travels" into and out of the headlamp assembly through these vents. - Certain environmental conditions may cause moisture to condense. - The fogging/cloudiness should disappear over time when the headlamp is in a dry environment.
