Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

12 VOLT BATTERY TESTING FOR IN-SERVICE VEHICLES SERVICE INFORMATION The following Service Information lists NNA procedural recommendations for establishing good connections while performing 12V battery testing. These recommendations are expected to promote uniformity during the connection process, therefore reducing the number of incorrect “Test with DCA” and “Replace” results. HINT: If 12 volt batteries are allowed to discharge for a prolonged period of time, battery life may be drastically reduced. This condition may lead to premature battery replacement and customer dissatisfaction. IMPORTANT:  CPX-900 is now an accepted testing tool to use along with or in place of the DSS-5000  CPX-900 operating instructions are found at: https://nissancpx900.midtronics.com/  DSS-5000 operating instructions are found at: https://nissandss5000.midtronics.com/  DCA-8000 is now a required testing tool to be used for all warranty replacement decisions. The DCA-8000 is also a more efficient charger than previously available, and will charge any available 12 volt lead acid battery safely and accurately as long as all precautions and inputs are made correctly. The DCA-8000 operating instructions are found at: https://nissandca8000.midtronics.com/

Rogue Pathfinder

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

CVT Warranty Extension In an effort to assure customer satisfaction, demonstrate our confidence in continuously variable transmissions (CVTs), and to address customer concerns including those expressed by customers in the class actions, Nissan will extend the warranty coverage on the CVT. The warranty extension includes the CVT assembly and internal CVT components, gaskets, and seals, CVT control valve body, torque converter, cooler kit (if applicable) and reprogramming of the Transmission Control Module (TCM), on the vehicles listed in this announcement. The warranty is being extended from its original duration of 60 months/60,000 miles to 84 months/84,000 miles (whichever occurs first). Coverage of other vehicle components remains unchanged, and all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of Nissan’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty continue to apply. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. If an owner contacts a dealer with a CVT concern in an owned or leased vehicle, verify warranty coverage for the specific VIN and then inform the customer of any diagnostic charges. NOTE: Some owners may have opted out of the warranty extension by excluding themselves from the class action settlement, thus it is important to check the VIN for each vehicle to verify coverage. 2. Use the appropriate Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) and/or Electronic Service Manual (ESM) to diagnose the root cause of the customer concern and identify the correct repair to resolve the customer concerns. NOTE: Dealers will need to follow the warranty process and obtain pre-approval from the Powertrain Call Center (800-973-9992, option 2) for any vehicles requiring CVT replacements when the replacement cost exceeds a Dealer’s Claims Administration/Authorization Limits (DCAL). Control valves and CVT belt and pulley kits do not require pre-authorization for repairs made under warranty.

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) Class Action Owner Notification On March 23, 2022, the Court presiding over a class action lawsuit gave final approval to a proposed settlement under which the CVT warranty will be extended for the following vehicles: 2014-2018 Rogue 2015-2018 Pathfinder *Not including Rogue Hybrid or Pathfinder Hybrid vehicles The approved settlement and the warranty extension are expected to become effective by June 1, 2022. Additional communication will be distributed prior to the warranty extension going into effect. To be clear, for the time being there is no warranty extension, and you should proceed with CVT-related claims as outlined below in bullet point three (3) under What Dealers Should Do. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. No action is necessary at this time. Nissan will provide additional instructions prior to the effective date of the extended warranty, which is expected to be June 1, 2022. 2. If a customer contacts the dealer with a CVT concern in an owned or leased vehicle, dealers should use the appropriate Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) to diagnose the root cause of the customer concern and identify the correct repair to resolve the customer concerns. NOTE: Dealers will need to follow the warranty process and obtain pre-approval from the Powertrain Call Center (800-973-9992 Option 2) for any vehicles requiring CVT assemblies to be replaced. Valve bodies and CVT belt and pulley kits do not require pre-authorization. 3. If the vehicle is no longer covered by a powertrain or parts warranty, provide owners a repair estimate for test drive, diagnosis, and repair after consulting the goodwill guidelines available in the Assurance Product Resources Manual (APRM) or WBP/18-006.

White Paint Clas

Service Bulletin/Repair Instructions

White Paint Class Action Owner Notification Dealer Notification In October, owners of white Nissan Rogues produced between January 11, 2013 and April 23, 2013, will receive a notice from a settlement administrator informing them of the terms of a proposed class action settlement. The settlement, if approved by the presiding court, could extend the warranty on the paint for four years and provide a one-time full vehicle repaint (subject to a copay). Eligible owners can also obtain coverage for any reasonable and necessary rental car coverage arising from the repaint, or reimbursement of amounts previously incurred for a one-time repaint and any reasonable and necessary rental car services arising from the repaint. The settlement also provides for eligibility in Nissan’s Vehicle Purchase Program. To be clear, unless and until the proposed settlement is approved by the presiding court, there is no warranty extension or other remedy and you should proceed with paint-related claims in the ordinary course. The proposed settlement, and the associated potential warranty extension, include many terms and conditions. Rather than attempting to address questions about the proposed settlement terms from customers, Nissan recommends dealers refer customers to the website listed below. This will enable owners to receive information from appropriate sources and avoid providing incorrect and/or incomplete information to customers. The website is currently live and available to inquiring customers. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. No action is necessary at this time. Nissan will provide additional instructions once the proposed settlement is approved by the court. 2. If a customer contacts the dealer with a white paint concern and/or references this settlement notification, dealers should refer the customer to the third party administrator’s website for additional information. www.vehiclepaintsettlement.com

CAMPAIGN BULLETIN Engine Control Module (ECM) Reprogram Regional (NV & AZ) Voluntary Service Campaign ***** Campaign Summary***** Nissan is conducting a Regional Voluntary Service Campaign to reprogram the Engine Control Module (ECM) on affected vehicles currently registered in Nevada and Arizona. The current programming may cause the air/fuel ratio to become excessively rich resulting in engine stop under certain high temperature and high altitude conditions. In addition, Nissan is asking dealers to inspect and, if necessary, replace the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve on certain 2013-14 Nissan Sentra vehicles. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Service Campaign using Service Comm or DBS National Service History - Open Campaign I.D. Due to the various models involved and the associated responsible manufacturing location of origin, there are three (3) separate campaign IDs with unique Campaign Bulletins for each model: - PC633 - PM827 - P8325 New vehicles in dealer inventory can be also be identified using DCS (Sales-> Vehicle Inventory, and filter by Open Campaign). - Refer to NPSB 15-460 for additional information NOTE: These campaigns are state-specific and limited to vehicles that are currently registered, or previously registered, in the state of Nevada or Arizona only. 2. Nissan requests dealers repair any affected vehicles in retailer new or pre-owned inventory to ensure customer satisfaction. 3. Dealers should use the appropriate repair bulletin for the applicable model as listed below to correct any vehicles subject to this campaign. 4. Once repaired, dealer should submit a warranty claim and release the vehicle.

CVT Reprogramming Voluntary Service Campaign ***** Campaign Summary***** Nissan is conducting a voluntary service campaign on approximately 1,657,666 specific MY2013-16 Altima (L33) and MY2014-16 Rogue (T32) vehicles to reprogram the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) software. Under specific driving conditions, hydraulic pressure may decrease and result in belt slip within the CVT. This may result in MIL illumination (P0776) and poor acceleration in some vehicles. There is no safety concern due to built-in fail-safe logic. Nissan is proactively reprogramming the CVT to prevent durability concerns and high out of warranty repair costs for owners. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Service Campaign using Service Comm I.D. PC490. 2. Dealers are requested to repair any affected vehicles in dealer new or pre-owned inventory to ensure customer satisfaction. 3. Dealers should use NTB16-121 to correct any vehicles subject to this campaign. 4. Once repaired, dealers should submit the claim, using the claims coding provided, and release the vehicle.

SERVICE INFORMATION Temporary tire Flat Spotting is common on New Dealer In-Stock vehicles that have not been occasionally moved. Flat Spotting can occur after the vehicle has been parked (not moved) for a few days, or longer. In most cases it is temporary. In extreme cases it can be permanent. Vehicles should be moved every 30 days, in one direction only, enough to rotate the tires 90° (see Figure 1). Moving vehicles as shown will prevent tire Flat Spotting. SERVICE INFORMATION Occasionally customers may notice water vapor or fog in the headlamps. The information, illustrations, and flow chart in this bulletin are provided to help you in determining if an incident for water/condensation in the headlamps is normal or not. Nissan?s new vehicle limited warranty does not cover physically damaged (cracked or broken) headlamps. All current headlamp assemblies are vented to the atmosphere (not sealed). - This is necessary to allow for expansion and contraction of air from temperature "variations" (warmer or colder) without damage to the headlamp. - Moisture in the air sometimes "travels" into and out of the headlamp assembly through these vents. - Certain environmental conditions may cause moisture to condense. - The fogging/cloudiness should disappear over time when the headlamp is in a dry environment. See this bulletin for further detail.
