Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

This bulletin provides instructions for installing new updated front shock absorbers and upper mounting brackets. The updated shock absorber and mounting bracket lowers the top of the shock absorber improving the allowable maximum travel of the front leaf spring pack and keeps the shock absorber in its normal travel zone reducing the time the shock absorber is in hydraulic rebound

This bulletin provides instructions for installing rubber hose STAUFF clamps in areas of the vehicle that have hard line STAUFF clamps installed on rubber hoses. Rubber hose STAUFF clamps have a smooth inner contact surface and filleted edges. Installing rubber hose STAUFF clamps will reduce potential hose chaffing in areas where hard line clamps were installed

Oshkosh has received reports of non-working water pumps due to the pump impeller becoming corroded and seized, causing the pump not to spin. A new impeller made of an improved alloy was developed to eliminate corrosion issues.

This bulletin provides instruction for replacing the mixer pump PTO shaft, mixer pump input yoke, and mixer pump input yoke bearing U-bolts to the current production configuration. The new PTO shaft is larger with greaseable crosses and requires a new mixer pump input yoke and replacing the input yoke bearing U-bolts with bearing straps.

This Technical Bulletin is for some Oshkosh S-Series Front Discharge Concrete Mixer trucks that are fitted with an optional Hendrickson Load Span Tag Axle (LSTA). This publication is intended to assist with the identification and replacement of axle weldment components on a limited number of Load Span Tag Axle (LSTA) assemblies manufactured by Hendrickson and equipped on Oshkosh S?Series front discharge mixers. The applicable LSTA assemblies were manufactured between March 25, 2008 and January 30, 2017. The new production version of the LSTA assembly (Hendrickson Part No. BAH13Z?XXK) is not affected. Hendrickson has learned the above?referenced axle weldment components may develop slowly progressive cracks in the axle seat connections under various service conditions. Such cracks will be clearly visible during routine vehicle inspections. If this condition is allowed to progress over time, such cracks could result in damage to the LSTA connections to the adjacent suspension trailing arms. Therefore, Hendrickson is offering to all applicable owners, at no charge, an Axle Weldment Replacement Kit (No. 016816?00) for affected LSTA assemblies. This kit includes the same new LSTA subassembly (including bolt?on cast axle seats) that is used in Part No. BAH13Z?XXK.

This document is a sample customer letter and the technical service bulletin from Hendrickson. Hendrickson has determined that load span tag axles on Oshkosh S-Series concrete mixers develop cracking in the axle seat connections. Cracking would be found during routine vehicle inspections.
Complaint counts are reports filed with NHTSA, not failure rates. A common model collects more of them than a rare one that breaks more often.
