The "transfer case" is designed as an active all-wheel drive system that is dynamically adapted to the respective driving state. Power transmission between the front and rear axle is controlled electronically via the "all-wheel drive servomotor (transfer case)" and themulti-plate clutches integrated in the transfer case. ? On all-wheel drive vehicles, the drive train can become strained at low speeds and when the steering is turned sharply when "Off-roadmode" is activated, depending on design. ? Under extreme conditions, the drive train can also become strained when "Off-roadmode" is deactivated. ? Customers with little experience with all-wheel drive vehicles can interpret this behavior as a fault, which in turn can result in incorrect diagnoses in the workshop. Remedial action: Customer complaint to be checked: ? Rough-running engine or ? thevehicle vibrates or ? theengine jerks under load/during acceleration.

If there is a complaint about knocking combustion, e.g. during acceleration at high load, the condition of the intake valves and portsmust be checked before doing any other work. If the check shows that the intake valves and intake ports have carbon deposits and are dirty, they must be cleaned using the VAS 294 011 - cleaning unit. There should be no need to replace the components. Date of Introduction: The VAS 294 011 - cleaning unit can be ordered immediately for dealers. Remedial Action: The VAS 294 011 - cleaning unit is used for cleaning carboned-up intake valves and intake ports. Compressed air is used to spray a special granulatemixture into the intake port,where it loosens and removes carbon build-up. The dirty granulate is extracted during spraying using an industrial vacuum cleaner.

Headlamp moisture - Headlamp assemblies are vented to the atmosphere to accompdate changes in temperature with the assembly. The result of this is that humidity in the headlamp atmosphere can condense when the temperature falls below the dew point. It is cormal for a mist or fog of dmoisture to condense on the inside of the lens. Moisture levels in the headlamp become abnomals when there is a large amount of water drops forming on the lens, as in the photos below.

A fine adjustment to change the depth of the upper latch striker may be made at the bolt shown in the photo above.
