Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.

The brackets and latches on 40ft Catalyst buses holding the lid on the clamshell covering rooftop components can come loose, possibly causing the lid to open. An open lid on a moving vehicle could become damaged or in an extreme case disconnected, possibly causing a hazard on the road. Proterra issued the service bulletin to replace the clamshell brackets and latches with an improved design.

Pin placement in the dash DMUXK connector was incorrect and caused the ICAN network to be improperly terminated. Proterra issued this service bulletin to relocate the pin to properly terminate the ICAN network.

A software error was causing a false state of charge calculation, shutting off the DC to DC converter, causing the low voltage batteries to lose charge. Loss of power to the low voltage battery could cause ancillary systems in the vehicle to turn off. Proterra issued this service bulletin to update the software that will make SOC calculations more accurate and prevent loss of power to the low voltage system.

Complaint counts are reports filed with NHTSA, not failure rates. A common model collects more of them than a rare one that breaks more often.
