Technical service bulletins are instructions a manufacturer sent its dealers about a known fault. They are not recalls and the work is usually not free, but they are the clearest signal of a problem the manufacturer already knows about.
TSB-050
An additional cross member or front sill is welded behind the header panel in PRATT chassis, this front sill is designed to support the front of the VP container. The front sill is supposed to be flush with the top of the frame rails. In some cases this front sill has been found to be too low which can result in damage and wear of the VP container.
TSB-049
In severe operating conditions, some sleeves on the bottom of the cylinders positioned over the tractor tires may experience accelerated wear. The sleeve that the lower flex plate is secured to can become worn to the point that it fails and no longer restrains the bottom of the cylinder.

Variation in the PRD bracket mounting hole location in the cross member may result in the PRD assembly installation height being too high resulting in contact between the roof panel and PRD inlet pipe. A revised bracket allows adjustment of the installed height of the PRD assembly.
TSB-044
In the event of a severe collision or roll over, where the lower mountings that restrain the cylinders have been broken; it is possible for some of the drain valves to contact the floor of the trailer due to excessive cylinder movement and or deflection of the container structure. This contact may damage or open the cylinder drain valve.

The Quantum special permit SP-16524 that allows for these trailers to operate on public highways was amended by DOT in April, 2022 to include a provision requiring that all trailers be retrofit with a Sway Stability Control (SSC) system by no later than January 30, 2023. this bulletin advises customers that any VP-10 series trailer that is not already equipped with a SSC system, must be retrofit with a SSC system January 30, 2023.
TSB-042
Some Quantum 40â VP trailers used in severe operating environments, have been found to have loose upper cylinder support collar bolts. If these bolts loosen enough a a leak may occur at the connecting fittings or lines.
TSB-039
A change can be made to the routing of the pneumatic actuator activation circuit so that use of the emergency air supply side will bypass the front and rear master control valves, the actuator control valve and much of the plumbing connecting these valves. By making this change the probability of the emergency air supply feature working after an accident is greatly improved.
TSB-040
A new fastening method has been developed to improve the connection between the chassis and the container. In the event of a roll over collision this new fastening method should be more durable than the original chassis pin.
TSB-037
The manual shut off valves used on the Quantum VP trailers may over time become loose. During trailer use, the manual shut off valves may not remain in the position selected by the operator. A new handle has been developed with a detent feature to lock the valve in the open position.
