ADJUSTER Valve Lash Customer's complaint may include a ticking noise coming from the engine. Technician's observations can refer to spongy or stuck hydraulic lash adjusters. Exhaust lash adjusters found with a "spongy" condition (compressible plunger) leading to the assumption of being defective/malfunctioning. EXHAUST lash adjusters are designed to be COMPRESSIBLE by hand. Intake lash adjusters found with a stiff or stuck condition (non-compressible plunger) leading to the assumption of being defective/malfunctioning. INTAKE lash adjusters are designed to be NON COMPRESSIBLE by hand. Do Not Replace EXHAUST lash adjusters when the following condition is present: should be compressible, but they will exert a reactionary spring force during compression and return to full expansion without a compression force. Do Not Replace INTAKE lash adjusters when the following condition is present: should feel very firm and difficult to compress. Once the correct functioning of the intake and exhaust lash adjusters is validated with the procedure above, refer to the Service Manual "HYDRAULIC LIFTER(S) NOISE DIAGNOSIS" procedure. After the corresponding service procedures from the Service Manual involving the Lash Adjusters have been conducted, refer to the detailed instructions in the Service Manual to diagnose and/or service any other component.

CANISTER Vapor -If an issue is detected with the Evaporative System Integrity Module (ESIM) Detector and not the Vapor Canister, only replace the ESIM Detector. -Before replacing the Vapor Canister due to Hard to Fill condition, replicate the condition at the Gas Station. If the condition is replicated, then check: 1) for kinked or pinched Clean Air Hose between the ESIM and the EVAP Air Filter; 2) for plugged EVAP Air Filter; 3) for kinked or pinched Vapor Hose between the Fuel Tank and the Vapor Canister. If the EVAP Filter is restricted, the replace the Filter. -Check if the Vapor Canister is flooded with fuel or the Recirculation Line has fuel. If fuel is found in the Vapor Canister or the Recirculation Line, then drop the Fuel Tank, remove the FDM Lock Ring to check if the internal Vapor Line is properly connected to the FDM Port. If the Vapor Line is not connected, then drain the fuel from the internal Vapor Line and properly connect to the FDM. Replace the Vapor Canister and the ESIM.

This kit contains the parts required for the repair (intake cam, rocker arms, sealer and gaskets). Once it is confirmed that the repair will be done using the camshaft/Rocker arms kit, it is also important to confirm that the vehicle being repaired has the latest calibration/software update for oil pump operation mode (high pressure mode) during engine start up. GENERATOR Engine Prior to alternator/generator removal: 1. Inspect & check all electrical connections to the alternator a. 2-way connector containing field control circuit & alternator sense voltage circuit. b. Unplug & plug-in the 2-way connector for field & sense circuit. Verify the connection is tight & check for any bent pins in alternator connector or damage to female terminals in connector. c. Check Alternator B+ Stud connection to be sure nut is securing positive cable terminal properly (i.e. nut is clamping terminal & connection is tight). d. Check fuse between the alternator B+ stud & PDC terminal to make sure it is not blown. e. Be sure to follow service manual sections on ALTERNATOR CONTROL CIRCUIT DIAGNOSTIC & ALTERNATOR SENSE CIRCUIT DIAGNOSTIC looking for any opens & shorts (to ground or battery voltage). 2. Check/verify all grounds in the charging system circuit a. Check tightness of mounting bolts securing alternator to engine block. Alternator is a case ground component. b. Check main ground from engine to chassis; connection must be tight. c. Check battery ground cable connections are tight. d. Potentially, loosen alternator mounting bolts, without removing alternator, and re-tighten to torque specifications in service manual. e. After all steps above are complete, re-start engine & check charging system operation. 3. Verify that the Smart Charging System is not the reason for alternator low voltage & current output (Amps). a. Alternator charging can be suspended during engine idle operation because of the Smart Charge strategy. b. Refer to service manual section "System Operation - Smart Charging System". c. Refer to Star Case S2008000031 Rev A for low charging voltage & Smart Charge Mode Voltage Range diagram & mode descriptions. d. The alternator has no internal regulator; thus, has no smart circuitry. All alternator control signals come from ECM. 4. If alternator is faulty, remove alternator & mounting bolts. Return alternator with bolts for analysis at QEC.

All Promaster (VF) 3.6L/62TE equipped vehicles: a) If the transmission bracket to the transmission case fasteners are removed during servicing, the fasteners (Part Number 06511385A$) must be replaced as they are one-time usage. b) Vehicles built prior to 10/23/2015 requires Service Kit PN 68461214AA; includes Transmission Isolator PN 68264483AA, and Adaptation Bracket 68264479AA and Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA. c) Vehicles built on or after 10/23/2015 will require only the Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA. 2. Only use the reman 62TE specified in StarParts for each model year - Only use R8210327A$ for 2014 - Feb 28, 2019 VF. - Only use R8453637A$ or R8599680A$ for March 1, 2019 and later VF as they have the revised park system. - R8453637A$ and R8599680A$ are physically and functionally equivalent. Installing a R8453637A$ or R8599680A$ in a 2014 - Feb 28, 2019 VF will result in a core with the original park system being returned. Mopar can no longer convert 62TE core with the original park system to the March 1, 2019 and later version. Continued mis-usage will exacerbate the existing core shortage. Mopar may deny warranty claims where the incorrect version is used in 2014-18 VF. 3. The engine to transmission dowel pins are critical to the longevity of several components. Verify the dowel pins are in the rear face of engine block before installing a replacement transmission. Mopar will add loose dowel pins with remanufactured 62TE. 4. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If vehicle is jerking/slipping with MIL code(s) P0740 or P2764, check TCC Solenoid operation. If TCC Solenoid is ok, the codes are indicative of a torque converter failure. Transmission,Trans Oil Pump,Torque Converter, Flexplate, Rear Seal, Engine NOTE: FOR ALL PROMASTER (VF) 3.6L/62TE EQUIPPED VEHICLES: IF THE TRANSMISSION BRACKET TO THE TRANSMISSION CASE FASTENERS ARE REMOVED DURING SERVICING, THE FASTENERS (Part Number 06511385A$) ARE ONE TIME USEAGE, AND MUST BE REPLACED, AND PROPERLY TORQUED TO 105 NM. Vehicles built prior to 10/23/2015 requires Service Kit PN 68461214AA; includes Transmission Isolator PN 68264483AA, and Adaptation Bracket 68264479AA, Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA. Vehicles built after on or after 10/23/2015 will require only the Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA For vehicle noise and flex plate found broken on vehicles > 50K miles. 1)Verify and Take pictures of the Trans/engine dowel pin holes, to see if the holes on trans bell housing are oblong, send pictures toFCA Redacted Content. 2) Call FCA Redacted Content, if no oblong holes are found to arrange trans swap and fast track the trans back to QEC. If vehicle won?t move and has noise/leaking from transmission bell housing area, check transmission pump bushing. If pump bushing is scored or damaged, replace the pump assembly as opposed to transmission. If vehicle is jerking/slipping with MIL code(s) P0740 or P2764, check TCC Solenoid operation. If TCC Solenoid is ok, the codes are indicative of a torque converter failure. Replace the torque converter. When replacing the long block engine, the VVT Actuator's PN 05184101A* must also be replaced. Engineering is requesting additional information when the long block engine is replaced due to thrust washer failures. Contact FCA Redacted Content.

Transmission Kit with Torque Converter 1. All Promaster (VF) 3.6L/62TE equipped vehicles. If the transmission bracket to the transmission case fasteners are removed during servicing, the fasteners (Part Number 06511385A$) are one-time usage. Vehicles built prior to 10/23/2015 requires Service Kit PN 68461214AA; includes Transmission Isolator PN 68264483AA, and Adaptation Bracket 68264479AA and Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA Vehicles built after on or after 10/23/2015 will require only the Fastener Service Kit PN 68329056AA. 2. All 3.6L/62TE equipped vehicles. If the vehicle you are repairing has a crack in the flex plate or failed pump bushing inspect and confirm that both (2) dowel pins are present in the engine block, which align the transmission center line to the crank shaft centerline and visually inspect the dowel alignment holes in the transmission case. If the holes are damaged or elongated the transmission should be replaced to prevent further damage to the transmission/flexplate or pump bushing due to the inability to properly align the engine to the transmission during the repair. 3. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If pump bushing is scored or damaged and the dowel pin alignment holes are ok, replace the pump assembly as opposed to complete transmission. 4. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If vehicle is jerking/slipping with MIL code(s) P0740 or P2764, check TCC Solenoid operation. If TCC Solenoid is ok, the codes are indicative of a torque converter failure. Replace the torque converter.
