This bulletin announces availability of a new HVAC blower motor unit assemblies developed to address isolated concerns of the blower motor becoming inoperative. If this issues occurs on models with Auto A/C, the blower fan may become totally inoperative. If this issue occurs on models with Manual A/C, the blower fan may operate on high speed only. The root cause of these conditions is water intrusion into the blower motor causing rust and corrosion to develop. Over time, the blower motor may begin to draw more electrical current to operate. if that occurs, the additional draw can cause the related fuse and/ or blower resistor to fail. To address this condition, additional packing has been added to improve sealing of the blower unit case along with development of a new style cabin air filter which also in corporates improved sealing.

Under certain circumstances, some customers may have a concern regarding a howling-type sound from the rear of the vehicle later diagnosed as a faulty hub / bearing assembly. Unevenness of the backing plate surfaces may affect the concentricity (roundness) of the hub / bearing after torqued during assembly and over time, cause the howling -type sound to develop. Production changes for the backing plates have been implemented to optimize their mounting surface quality.

This bulletin announces availability of reprogramming files to optimize the Battery Energy Control Unit (BECU) which is a component part of the HEV battery pack. The new files address the BECU logic used for detection of the HEV battery pack temperature. After the engine is shut off, the battery pack generates a certain amount of self-discharge heat by design. Existing BECU logic uses a threshold for the amount of this heat which is too low. As a result, the Hybrid Motor Assist Regeneration (HEV battery recharge) system and Auto Start Stop features stop operating. In addition to these reprogramming files to address this condition, a design change was made to the replacement battery pack in support of this software update.

In some cases, the Check Engine light may illuminate and a knock sensor-related DTC set in the ECM memory: P0327, P0328, P0332 and P0333. The knock sensor for DIT engines is now utilized for NA engines to improve durability and resistance to heat.

The cause has been identified as a frozen relay contact inside the control module. Illumination of the EPS warning lamp can also occur and a DTC C2532 may be stored.

This Service Information bulletin announces a design change to the clutch release bearing used on the models as listed above. During assembly of the bearing, a different type of grease is used which has a higher resistance to heat. In cases where the operator keeps a foot on the clutch pedal for extended periods, an increased amount of heat is generated which can cause the grease inside the bearing to deteriorate. In a case of prolonged clutch pedal application, seizure of the bearing can occur with potential damage to other related components.

This bulletin provides a service procedure to address a gap between the top edge of the door and the instrument panel on the models listed as shown in the photo below. The gap may also make the glove box door difficult to close fully.There is a latch to keep the glove box closed on both sides of the glove box door. If the door is closed without using enough force to engage both latches or by pushing it shut on just one side instead of in the middle, one may close and not the other. Over time, if the door is not fully closed with both latches, high cabin temperatures along with weight of the items inside the glove box may cause the assembly to deform slightly and a gap to develop.

When either of these DTCs is stored, a leaking o-ring which seals the electric oil pump relief valve may allow CVT fluid to enter the pump?s electric motor. Although current Service Manual diagnostic procedures instruct replacement of multiple components, this information will help isolate the actual failed component for a more cost-effective repair. NOTE: The relief valve is now available as an individual part. If there is no damage to the drive motor case assembly, refer to TSB 16-108-17R for the parts needed and Service Procedure for replacing just the relief valve.

THIS BULLETIN ANNOUNCES A DESIGN CHANGE TO THE STOP LIGHT SWITCH TO REDUCE THE POSSIBILITY OF IMPROPER ILLUMINATION OF THE ABS AND/OR VDC WARNING LAMP WITH RESULTING DTCS C1531 AND/OR C0054. DETAILS OF THE SWITCH CHANGES ARE SHOWN IN THE ILLUSTRATION BELOW.
