Subaru has determined that due to an engine programming issue, the affected vehicles may stall when coming to a stop or driving at a low speed (under 15 MPH) when the air conditioning is operating at maximum capacity. Under certain hot weather conditions, when the vehicle?s air conditioning is running at full capacity, the engine programming may not account for the additional load placed on the engine when slowing down or coming to a stop. In some cases, this could cause the engine to stall requiring the driver to immediately restart the vehicle.

MODELS WITH EYESIGHT ONLY. This bulletin announces reprogramming file availability to optimize the EyeSight system. Customers may notice the lane departure warning feature re-activates the next time the ignition is turned on, even after choosing to turn it off. After this reprogramming, the system will retain whatever setting the operator has chosen (OFF or ON) instead of automatically defaulting back to ON after the ignition is turned off.

A design improvement has been made to the warning box assembly for improved responsiveness. The warning box is located inside the overhead map light assembly as shown in the illustrations below. The warning box part number has also been changed. On affected vehicles, the passenger?s airbag ON/OFF indicator flashes, the airbag warning lamp illuminates and DTC B1661: ?PASSENGER?S AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR FAILURE? is stored. This DTC indicates communication between the warning box and combination meter has failed. The condition is more likely to be observed during high ambient temperature conditions. In some cases, there may also be a DTC B1502: ?WARNING BOX COMMUNICATION MALFUNCTION? stored in the combination meter memory.

The new seal will eliminate potential oil seepage into the wire harness connector portion of the valve.
