VDL Van Hool has received a few complains about the improper operation of the interior heating system. Investigation has shown that this is caused by an improper setting of the pressure regulator on the Burkert valve block. The too low setting of the pressure regulator prevents the water valves from opening when requested by the control system.

The control arms of the front and trailing axles are equipped with a flexible ball-joint at the chassis side. Van Hool has several suppliers for the repair kit of this flexible ball-joint. All of the repair kits contain a flexible ball-joint, a spacer and a snap ring. Due to not equal thickness of the spacer in the different kits, it is important to install all three the kit parts when replacing a flexible ball-joint. Do not mix parts of different repair kits!

Van Hool recently changed-over in production to a “longer” articulation shaft (VH11717611) to fasten the wheel-suspension arms to the steering knuckle carrier/hub carrier. Field experience has shown that this change-over has a positive impact on the lifespan of the rubber bushings. The NHTSA recall numbers are: Eberspächer NHTSA 24E-030 ABC Companies NHTSA 24V-332 The units which are affected are manufactured from May 1st, 2023 (week 18/year 2023) up to January 31st, 2024 (week 5/year 2024).
