To determine if the transmission or the complete ERAD needs to be exchanged follow instructions under "Service". Instructional film is included as attachment, mp4. The repair method is included as attachment, pdf. Service: If the customer is driving in electric mode and experiences noise from the rear that increase with vehicle speed (that corresponds to the electrical motor speed) it is an electrical motor issue. In this case the complete ERAD is to be exchanged. No DTC(s) are set for this issue. If the customer experiences hesitation when the electrical motor should be engaged or no electrical motor engagement at all, the transmission part needs to be exchanged. This fault results in Clutch DTC(s) as indicated in the list, and a message in DIM (Driver Information Module) "Hybrid system failure, Service required". ERAD transmission is ordered according to normal routines. ERAD transmission Part No. 32240142.

Volvo Car USA LLC and Volvo Car Canada LTD (Volvo) on behalf of Volvo Car Corporation, has voluntarily decided to extend warranty coverage on certain model year 2015 ? 2016 S60, V60, XC60, S80, XC90, XC70 models. Volvo has determined that there is the potential for the wire bonding inside the Low Pressure Fuel Sensor (LPS) to become damaged over time. This condition can illuminate the Check Engine Lamp in the Driver Information Module with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) ECM-P018C00. The corrective action is to replace the Low Pressure Fuel Sensor per VIDA instructions, if the vehicle displays the condition listed in this bulletin. For eligible vehicles that are beyond the manufacturer warranty period, Volvo will extend the warranty coverage for the Low Pressure Fuel Sensor for 8 years or 80,000 miles from the original vehicle in service date. Coverage is limited to the symptoms described in this bulletin for the Low Pressure Fuel Sensor only. The 8 year extended warranty only applies to vehicles which have exceeded the 4 year or 50,000 miles / 80,000 kilometers New Vehicle Warranty by time or mileage. The limitations and conditions for this extended warranty are identical to the Volvo New Vehicle Warranty. Please refer to the Warranty and Maintenance Records Information booklet for details.

This could result in the vehicle not providing the GPS location, increasing the risk of no emergency response. The corrective action is to complete a Total Upgrade on all affected vehicles. A total of 17,548 U.S. and 1,461 Canadian vehicles are eligible for this recall.

The battery will self-discharge over time and if allowed to be left at a sufficiently low voltage, it will become permanently damaged. The battery must have a minimum voltage of 9 volts to be installed in a vehicle.

From May 12th, 2017 and on, if any of the software packages listed above are loaded to a car that has received the new graphic, it will be removed. This is a Technical Journal: *Added VST Operation No. If the vehicle is equipped with air suspension and if customer is complaining over a knock/rattle/clatter noise from the front suspension when driving on roughroads or over a road hump, then follow the advice under Service. Note: Vehicles with Air suspension can be identified by the following VDN code: RI03 Service: Too high tire pressure could produce noise that could be misinterpreted as noise from the front air suspension system. First ensure that the tire pressure is matching the Correct tire pressure, refer to the Tire Label (located in left side B-pillar) or Owners Manual. It is required that workshop test drive the vehicle with Correct tire pressure in order to verify the customers complaints regarding unacceptable noise from the front suspension. If the noise is confirmed, replace front shock absorbers according to TJ Instruction VCC-503532-2 (see also movie, special tool 9997644_v3.mp4) and perform a SUM upgrade. Note:The Hose coupling (31429025) should be used as a tool when filling the shock absorber during reassembly, should be reused.

In the event of a crash where the pre-tensioner is activated and in combination with certain conditions, the MGG squib may detach and be propelled out of the tube. If the MGG squib penetrates the inner side trim panel, it will lose most of its kinetic energy before it may enter the 3rd row occupant compartment. Despite this condition, the seat belt functions properly. The corrective action is to replace the 3rd row passenger?s side seatbelt retractor.

This graphic was removed from the software on May 12, 2017 due to some inaccuracies. Service: Affected software packages: - Total Upgrade - Service 2.0 - PDS (Pre-Delivery Service) - VDDM_PBL (Vehicle Dynamics Domain Master Primary Bootloader) - DIM Upgrade or Reload Any vehicle that received one of the software packages listed above from May 8th, 2017 to May 11th, 2017 will have received the DIM graphic. From May 12th, 2017 and on, if any of the software packages listed above are loaded to a car that has received the new graphic, it will be removed. Vehicles built from structure week 2017w17 to 2017w22 will have the graphic in the car from the factory but it will be removed when any of the software packages listed are loaded. Do NOT replace, reload or upgrade any components for customer complaints of this function missing. This function will be re-added to the DIM software at a later date that is to be determined.

This is a Technical Journal: Low Battery Message, Engine Remote Start inop, flat 12V battery Service: The most recent VCM software release can cause any or all of the above symptoms. *The current solution is to install VCM repair software by following the procedure below: 1. Perform a Total Upgrade according to TJ 31543 to bring all vehicle nodes to the latest software status. The Upgrades list in VIDA should be empty before proceeding. *2. Download the appropriate SP below to prevent the above symptoms and re-enable ERS XC90: SP 31676890, CMQ VCM Fix S90: SP 31676891, CMQ VCM Fix 3. Drive the vehicle over 20mph to release the VCM from diagnostic mode. ERS will be unavailable until this is done. 4. Close and lock the vehicle for 3+ minutes to allow the network to shut down before testing ERS. PLEASE NOTE - DO NOT perform a Total Upgrade or VCM Upgrade after performing this procedure (they will now appear in the Upgrades list). Doing so will re-install the affected software. - Not all battery drains are caused by this issue. *The repair software will be integrated with regular VCM Upgrade/Reload and Total Upgrade/PDS/Service 2.0 packages in the coming weeks *This TJ will be updated when the updated software packages are available.

Technical Journal TITLE : The Error Frame Finder (EFF) can be an aid in fault tracing intermittent CAN network problems by providing a visible indication of error frames that are being transmitted on the network when the fault becomes active. The advantage of using the EFF function is that error frames are usually transmitted on the network before a vehicle symptom can occur. Hence, if the fault is very intermittent in nature, it may be possible, for example, to induce the wiring fault for a short duration by manipulating the vehicle harnesses and connectors. The electrical fault will occur and be detected by the EFF without ever having a vehicle symptom appear. The instructions for setting up the tool have been simplified.

Perform a Total Upgrade according to TJ 31543 to bring all vehicle nodes to the latest software status. The Upgrades list in VIDA should be empty before proceeding. *2. Download the appropriate SP below to prevent the above symptoms and re-enable ERS XC90: SP 31676890, CMQ VCM Fix S90: SP 31676891, CMQ VCM Fix 3. Drive the vehicle over 20mph to release the VCM from diagnostic mode. ERS will be unavailable until this is done. 4. Close and lock the vehicle for 3+ minutes to allow the network to shut down before testing ERS. PLEASE NOTE - DO NOT perform a Total Upgrade or VCM Upgrade after performing this procedure (they will now appear in the Upgrades list). Doing so will re-install the affected software. - Not all battery drains are caused by this issue. *The repair software will be integrated with regular VCM Upgrade/Reload and Total Upgrade/PDS/Service 2.0 packages in the coming weeks *This TJ will be updated when the updated software packages are available.
