One key has a glossy piano black finish with matte chrome detail, and the other key has a completely matte black finish. Starting model year 2016 TT vehicles and with model year 2017 Q7 and A4 vehicles, vehicles equipped with Audi advanced key (Kessy) will be delivered with two remote keys that have different exterior finishes. Delivering vehicles with two keys that have different finishes is done deliberately. The key with glossy black finish indicates that the vehicle is equipped with Audi advanced key. Vehicles without Audi advanced key are delivered with two matte black finish keys.

The customer has various complaints about the RSE system and would like to update the software of the RSE tablets. The vehicle cannot be started after it has been off for several days, and there are no indications in the battery history log of battery drain originating from a control unit on the CAN bus. The latest update (available as of March 2016) implements a fix that can prevent one of the RSE units from staying awake while the ignition is off, which can potentially draw the vehicle battery down.

The customer does not know how to obtain the data or cannot perform the update after downloading the data. The MMI is slow to respond or freezes during the map update. For vehicles with MIB2, the MMI over-the-air map update does not allow for a full map update and shows greyed-out regions. The customer is concerned that the OTA map update will consume too much data from the Audi connect data subscription.

The customer does not know how to become a Key User of the vehicle. The customer has completed the Audi connect User Management Registration and has a contract ID and form, but the remote services do not work in the vehicle. The customer does not understand the different PINs used with the Audi connect Gen2 system. The customer or dealer has lost the scratch-off vehicle code (referred to as the ?vehicle PIN?). The customer does not know the four-digit app PIN for remotely locking and unlocking the vehicle with the MMI connect smartphone app. The customer and dealer must both understand the contract ID generated during the Audi connect user management registration process must be validated by the dealer using the AcVDM system. The person being validated will have full access to the vehicle?s location and could potentially lock and unlock the vehicle remotely (if the vehicle PIN and myAudi account are paired within the MMI system), thus it is the responsibility of the dealer to ensure that the customer requesting validation is the actual vehicle owner. AcVDM can be found in AccessAudi.com under Audi connect>>AcVDM myAudi Key User Verification Tool. Once the customer becomes a Key User of the vehicle, other users can be assigned as ?secondary users? of the same vehicle. A secondary user can use the remote services without restriction, but only the Key User can assign or remove secondary users.

Audi connect Gen1 and Gen2 systems: Differences and troubleshooting. The customer has a general concern related to Audi connect. Different features are included with different generations of the Audi connect system. The Audi connect Gen1 system includes all vehicles that utilize a removable plastic SIM card. The Audi connect Gen2 system includes all vehicles that utilize an embedded SIM card. The root cause of all complaints cannot be attributed to the vehicle hardware because of the backend server configurations that need to be correct in order for Audi connect to work. For most sporadic complaints, the issue typically resides with the MBB backend server or with the source data provider (Google, INRIX, etc.), and not with the vehicle. The issue only occurs in vehicles with Audi virtual cockpit (FPK) and without the driver assistance package. A software issue is causing the condition, but the revised software is not yet available.

A Technical Assistance Center (TAC) ticket must be created prior to any repair related to the Audi Q7, and each ticket must include diagnostic logs and a detailed summary for each customer concern. The ticket must be activated by calling the TAC for further instructions; the case number assigned must be recorded on the repair order. The concern must be corrected after authorization. Findings must be reported to close the TAC ticket. Part(s) replaced under warranty and requested by the Warranty Parts Return Center (WPRC) must be sent to the WPRC (use the Audi Prepaid Freight Program) within 48 hours after completing the repair.

DO NOT allow convertible top to remain in a partially opened or partially closed position for longer than 5 minutes. This will cause the top to stop functioning and will require service (A3 Cab, A5/S5 Cab, R8 Spyder ONLY). DO NOT treat vehicle parts painted with matte finish paint with conventional polishing materials or hard wax. Specific matte paint care products can be found in the Touch Up Paint and Service Supplies eStore in Access Audi. Use of conventional polishes and waxes can destroy the matte finish effect.

The displayed vehicle range drops inconsistently. After the vehicle is refueled, the displayed vehicle range does not change for a long period of time. When the vehicle is driven on hilly roads for a long period of time, the displayed vehicle range suddenly changes by a significant amount. There are no DTCs related to fuel senders stored in the instrument cluster control module, J285 (address word 17). This condition does not involve or affect the accuracy of the fuel level indicator, but only the estimated distance to empty display on the on-board computer.

When a phonebook with a large number of contacts is being downloaded, the MMI screen freezes Briefly after the initial Bluetooth connection (shortly after the phone is bonded to the vehicle), after the ignition is switched on (shortly after the phone automatically reconnects with the vehicle), and after the phonebook has downloaded. When the voice recognition system is used, a message appears in the MMI screen stating that the phone book is too large and that the voice recognition system cannot be used. When music is streamed to the MMI system with the Bluetooth A2DP connection, the music intermittently pauses or seems to skip. The condition goes away once the phonebook transfer is completed. The MMI uses a limited portion of the total memory to convert the name and phone number fields of downloaded contacts into a voice command (text to speech). Extensive processing takes place if too many letters are used in the first and last name fields or if numbers or special characters are entered. The remaining memory is dynamically assigned to different applications which can also affect the capacity of the voice command processing. The MMI does not respond until the process is completed or it may freeze if phonebook fields are too large or do not follow typical formatting. In addition, the text-to-speech capacity is exceeded and the voice recognition system is rendered inactive.

The AMI cable being used is a genuine Audi-branded cable with an Audi part number (see Required Parts and Tools for a list of valid part numbers). The "Device or cable type not supported" message may be displayed when an incorrect AMI cable type is connected to the MMI system. Only cables with an Audi part number (i.e., 4F0.XXX.XXX) are supported by the MMI system. Volkswagen-branded cables look similar, but are not guaranteed to work with Audi MMI systems. The label on the end of an Audi-branded cable has an Audi logo and Audi part number. Audi-branded cables have unique firmware inside the hardware that can determine which MMI system and iOS device are connected to the cable. Volkswagen cables do not have this firmware. The firmware is required to allow the system to function normally due to the different technology available in the different MMI systems and in the different iPhones and iPod Touch devices. In addition, the AMI system was designed to play the music stored locally on the connected device only. Music streaming (from Spotify or Pandora, for example) is not supported, and music stored in the cloud (on Google Play, Amazon Prime, or iTunes Match/iCloud, for example) may drop out, pause, and skip when played.
